England v Pakistan Test Series

scotch

Striker
gonna be tough series, 1-1 IMO
What is England's best attack tho, since everyone is available including Onions as standby.
Anderson
Swann
Tremlett
Bresnan
is what i'd go with, but could easily see Broad/Finn replacing Bresnan.
Thoughts?

i have no idea if the pitches out there warrant a 2nd spinner?

id guess england will stick with a 4 man attack and my bet would be

anderson
broad
bresnan
swann

(they wont be dropping broad. its a toss up between bresnan and tremlett)

i think we can win the series

Broad is Englands most talented and best allround player so unlikely to be omitted

Correct ;-)

Tremlett will miss out as will Bresnan when we pick Monty in the second and / or third Test.

Finn has found a yard or two of pace and is the coming man for 2012.

The Pakistan team will be fired up for this one:-) I will go for England by one Test.

There arent many bowlers by trade with a test hundred to their name

I will go Pakistan 2-1 or 1-1, difficult to assess without being 100% certain what the wickets will be like in the UAE.

Ajmal will prove to be the difference

The legend that was Alex Tudor got within 1 run.;-)

Will we ever have a bowler who takes 400 plus test wickets? Our all time list looks a bit paltry compared to some other countries.

Broad has 132 and is only 25. I would suggest he has at least 6 years left at the top level which would equate to roughly 40 wickets per calender year over 13 tests

why do you always take england to lose? you did it in the ashes. you did it with india? is it more hopefully thinking than what you really think? i think this series wil be very close though.....

hadnt won in Australia for 24 years

Prediction for India on basis half team wouldnt be injured

Pakistan rid of corruption and playing good cricket

The pitches out in the middle east have been placid. The Pakistanis beat Sri Lanka quite convincingly even though two were drawn. So I'm gonna go for a 1-0 win to go either way, depending on our ability to take 20 wickets.

Spin will be the key, They have Ajmal who has taken near 50 wickets in both tests and ODis this year, Left hander Rehman who is very decent, Mo Hafeez with some handy off spin, and Afridi for the shorter stuff. Their fast bowlers include the impressive Gul and the new guy Cheema, who looked canny, a skiddy, swingy kind of quick.

Who's gonna take all our wickets? Hopefully swanny will come into his own again and Anderson But Broad.....dont count on it. I might get pelters for saying this but I personally don't rate Broad, can see him throwing his dummy out there with the batting tracks that they have over there as he seems to only turn up at home in England with our green tops.

Some damning stats.

At home 88 wickets at 28
away from home 44 wickets at 40. His average in Australia is 80

Flat track bully anyone?

post of the year this like

Broad plays one test in Australia clearly not fully fit gets injured and this is used against him

His contrast between home and away figures is excellent as it illustrates more consistency, hoy up Anderson so we can compare the difference

Anderson at home 167 wickets @ 27
away from home 76 wickets @38

in Australia 29 wickets at 35.

Jimmy has better stats what ever way you look at them EB. It was two tests Australia mind. Its not my fault he's a mummy's boy and doesnt like playing away from home, ahh poor diddums. Can you explain those damning stats in my last post show consistency in Broad but in the same breath show Anderson as incapable? You're full of shit EB. ;-)

I'm going with either 1-1 or 2-0 England. With the likelyhood of some fairly placid wickets out there, I reckon there's a good chance one match will be a high scoring draw. Equally, our determination to continue to prove we're the world's best will lead us to victory at some point, it's just a question of whether or not we can do it on more than one occasion. If we're prepared to take the risk and play 5 bowlers, we'll have the fire power to take 20 wickets.

My starting 11 would be:

Strauss
Cook
Trott
Pietersen
Bell
Prior
Broad
Swann
Anderson
Finn
Panesar
