nothing more than proper test cricket.
Games are set up on the first four days and won or lost on the last when the pitch cracks up

I agree with what you say as long as the pitch does deteriorate and India don't bat for the rest of the test. Wouldn't surprise me to see them rack up a 100/150 run lead and the Windies have a massive bottle job on the last day.
Is Chanderpaul injured or is there a changing of the guard going on?
He's injured. Were the commentators saying that Windies should have declared today?

Test cricket should be about an even contest between bat and ball.DM
test cricket is a test of mind and body for five days
with advanced run rates teams should regularly be taking 3.5 / 4 days in their first inning with tests being won or lost on day 5 on worn piches. That is proper test cricket
I dont have issues with shortened tests but there are far too many these days
oot for 94, time to fire off a few texts

What's the point in playing on a worn pitch on day 5 when two sides have just spent the first four days posting scores of 600. Games which favour the batting side as much as this are incredibly tedious IMO.
cue the inevitable 'its fate comments' from the commentators on Sachin tomorow... errr no, they built a road and this is not test cricket just batting practice.![]()

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.Jesus wept
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Not often a game in India ends up as exciting as that when the combined first innings totals are in excess of 1,000 runs.
It wasnt hindsight I told you what would happen on day two.
Too many on here are now clearly use to watching tests finish inside three days because of inclement weather and green wickets which encourage extravagent seam movement which provides a spectacle of sub standard quality
When faced with a 'flat' 5 day track people start bemoaning this fact, not appreciating that bat dominates on days 1-3 and bowlers come more into their own on days 4 and 5
A particularly poor thought out post from you there Dexter
To be fair a result was only possible because the West Indies bottle job on the last morning, not because it was a perfect wicket. I think this wicket was too far the other way from many wickets you see around at the minute, the bat dominated too much.
It was an attacking move by India, to start with two spinners on a dry worn pitch which paid off. I would call it good bowling
