Cook will go down as Englands greatest ever batsman

as someone alluded to on here many moons ago when he was a meer novice

anyone seen SC these days

Cook hasn't really batted slowly in any ODIs he's played since he came back into the team. Trott on the other hand gets more runs generally, but so slow it's to the detriment of the team.

the problem being on Indian wickets you need to smash it early in the powerplays before the spinners bog you down in the middle overs.

70 off 15 overs is pathetic and has cost us the game, needs to be 110

patel reminding me more and more of yardy every time he plays for england.

Lets get jos butler in the team.

Bopara is 5 ft 07" of batting talent, it's the top 3" that let him down

Stats are against me here but Trott is not dynamic enough. He is not exactly power play material.

Cook is a Test specialist, fact.

If KP were not KP he would have been dropped 12 months ago

Time to go with the youngens, with a few seasoned performers.

Kieswetter
Hales
Morgan (c)
Stokes
Bairstow
Butler
Bresnan
Broad
Swann
Borthwick
Anderson

12th man
Taylor/Dernbach

Disagree.

Cook is looking good in ODI's and getting better all the time
Stokes has a long long way to go
Anderson is not a ODI bowler

Trott needs to go like he may score runs but usually its that slow it becomes a detriment to the team. I would like to see Hales come in at the top of the order and cook drop down to 3 or 4 depending on how well we are doing. Cook looks ok when the feild is back but once up can get bogged down unless its in his areas.

All that being said it was the bowlers who generally let us down, as that was a 250 pitch but poor bowling and poor captaincy let them get 300, Swann was bowled out way too soon and some of the feilding position and bowling areas were shocking to say the least.

just abit of tinkering is needed imo even though we had a bad result today we aren't that far away. Bopara shouldn't be batting any higher than 7 if we are to make progress in the ODI form.

oh and badly missed morgan today

If Ravi is batting 7, he shouldn't be playing

I am fine with Cook opening

Cook
Davies
Bell (our best batsman and that pains me)
Morgan
Bairstow
Buttler
Patel
Bresnan
Broad
Swann
Dernbach

Bats deep.
Power
Class

Cook
Davies - Not good enough with bat or gloves imo
Bell - quite simply not good enough, has a worse strike rate then Trott!
Morgan
Bairstow
Buttler
Patel - Yardy/Dalrymple in disguise
Bresnan- Doesnt take enough wickets imo
Broad
Swann
Dernbach- not convinced

But apart from that yes i agree

In answer to your points.

Davies - I think he is a better alternative to Kieswetter. I hate the modern day thing of opening with a keeper but I like this lad
Bell - now an international player, after all this time go with him
Patel - maybe yes. But Borthwick/Rashid are not there yet. And Yardy was a decent 20:20 bet
Bresnan - not sure how you can criticise to be honest. Haven't looked at his stats, but he averages sub 30 in tests so clearly takes wickets. Solid with the bat. Good cricketer
Dernbach - jury is out. But impresses me

Bell our best batsmen in ODI's fuckin hell what have you been watching for the last 6 years, his scoring is no better than Trotts and he scores less runs anyone can see that would be a backward move. Bell shouldn't be anywhere near this team.

If Bopara is to play he has to play the allrounder slot at 7 otherwise he's not worth having. Him and Patel should be fighting for one spot. Watched Butler in the T20 champions league looks like he has abit to learn yet, Keiswetter needs more chances so shouldn't be dropped yet and Pietersen still needs to be tried for abit longer as if he gets going their is no better batsmen in our team, he looked very rusty today. Other than that I agree with the lineup

If Trott gets out for 30 he's cost you the game.

Not our best bat in ODI's....yet. But he has grown up and will come good imho

When Bell is in the ODI side he is a problem and we need to get rid, when he is out the side he is the answer to our problems and needs to come back in
