Iirc there a post on here a year or so ago in which the OP was on his way back from the match and someone suddenly jumped off the bridge.

Terrible thing to witness.

Aye, that was me.

Tried to talk the bloke down, jumped off though.

The fake ripper survived jumping before he sent the tapes didn't he?

There was a really good feature film called "The Bridge" about people jumping off the golden gate bridge to do themselves in. Think a few have survived (one was interviewed in the film) but most die, something like 35 a year too!
I had that film and lent it out to so many people when I didnt get it back I couldn't remember who'd had it.

The horrible thing about the jumping off the Golden gate is that it takes nearly 4 seconds to hit the water, more than enough time to reconsider your decision, but no way to save yourself if you do.

That's what the bloke who survived said. That before he went up all he could think of was all the things wrong with his life, but when he jumped he realised the only thing that was wrong with his life was the fact he'd jumped

A couple of years ago I was driving under the Tyne Bridge (Newcastle side) and heard a thump just behind me. A student had thrown himself off. I can still remember the trainers he had on. I'm looking at them now.

God knows what's running through their head....... Worrying thing is there is some people that just don't want to stop them

I kna a copper who was telling me that a lad who jumped onto the concrete below a few years ago was still alive by the time they put him in the ambulance.

Very sad.

Looks like a clip from "The Bridge"

well worth a download to see the whole film like.

Would of thought it would take longer that it's f***ing miles up. Fuck they must go at some speed.

is this the film? f***ing scary how calm some of them seem about it, walk up climb over and away they go:-(

And i think terminal velocity is something like 120 mph for a human or it could be 120 feet per second

Ive seen a lass jump off and survive, the splash must have been about 30ft. The lifeboat was there in seconds.

FFS, just watched that then followed a link on youtube anf just been sodding rickrolled:mad:

I was walking home from the town when i was 18-19 year old (long time ago),i'd just got across the bridge on the museum side when i noticed a group of lads walking towards me,you're always a bit wary late on,anyway they walked past but there was one more lagging behind them,he had his head down no bother walked past me,he was with the bigger group cos i could hear the odd comment aimed at him,i walked on a bit then heard this commotion going on,i looked back and the big group of lads were running back over and looking over the edge of the bridge, the one at the backed had jumped over,it was on the front of the Echo a couple of nights later, god knows what sort of mess someones mind must get in to actually do something like that.

Yeah but he was a bit of a crank imho, he said a Seal arrived and help support his now crippled body from drowning...
