tragic and not fair on the people who witness it

My mate found his brother dead after he hung himself. I don't think he will ever be fully over it.

My dad saw someone jump in front of a train at Durham station. He said she was standing on the tracks and most people on the platform moved away. He tried to talk her into getting back on the platform but reckons she just stared straight through him as he spoke to her. A train came passing through, he put his hand out to her but she turned away and it hit her. He described it as her turning from a person into red mist.

This must've been about 10 or 15 years ago now and it's left some trauma with him. I was talking to him about it the other day and when it really gets to him he'll wake up in a sweat and can't sleep for going over it.

So yeah, anyone who would will a person to kill themselves to hurry up the traffic or provide a bit of entertainment while you're standing in a queue should have a word with my dad, see what he thinks.

I agree it was in a bit of bad taste but if I saw someone on the bridge and they didn't just get up and jump over, i reckon they would not be going over the top.

Would you not take the piss if they were wearing an Iron Maiden T-shirt?

They really must be in a bad way if they were wearing a Maiden t-shirt.

The point that your dad could do fuck all - emphasises my point that if people are going to do it they get on with it. So if I was stuck in traffic I would prefer the person to get on with it either way.

Coming across as an utter plum here imho.

Ah well.

and someone will have to come along and scoop him up the selfish twat. A job i wouldn't fancy doing.

I was watching grimefighters or something similar where the bloke complained about having to scrape up someone whose legs had basically skewered through their entire body and gone through the neck/shoulders

I was talking to a paramedic and he said it's nowt like you see in films.

He said imagine a egg splattering:eek:

As was said earlier 'a red mist' by all accounts, remember we are just a bag of liquid with a few lumps in.

Caught a bit of the 9/11 documentary that was on a couple nights ago. Firefighter described the remains of one of the jumpers as "an 8 foot crater with everything that was inside of him now on the outside".

lad from the village came in one day to find his step-son hanging in the bathroom. Can't imagine what they went through. The fact that they've set up an organisation to try to provide help for people is utterly amazing; I doubt I'd ever be able to function again if it happened to me

This. Tossers.

If you're gonna do it at least spare others the trauma. It must be horrific for train drivers like.

My lass' (na) friends (also no) dad was a train driver. Someone jumped out in front of him. He was absolutely traumatized. Couldn't sleep properly or eat for ages. Had to go to fuck loads of therapy as well. Quit his job straight after the accident and hasn't been the same since.

While the person who killed himself, obviously had his own issues, it's ridiculously selfish to do it in such a way that will affect other peoples lives so much. Then again, there's not really any other way that won't affect someone.

got a mate who is a train driver, he has had 4 suicides, he says the same as a previous poster there is nothing left of the body when a train hits them, just get hosed off at the next station, he reckons the first two really got to him but the most recent two he could tell that the victim was going to do it, and with all the counselling they get after something like this [ im only guessing about counselling] im sure they will all have different ways of dealing with it... still not too pleasant an experience though,

I once hear that in USA, NY to be exact, if a train driver has 3 suicides on (or infront of I guess) their trains they get given retirement on full pay due to the trauma. This is probably an urban legend though.

A lad once jumped off London Bridge in front of me. He just vaulted the parapet as casual as fuck like. I was inches away from grabbing him. He finally went under the water near HMS Belfast, just as a police launch nearly got to him. He was a goner. They fished him out further down the river.

i'm a fireman and i know a lad who had someone step out on him on wessington way whilst he was driving the engine
he said the lad just looked at him straight in the eyes whilst he stepped up, then just splattered off the windscreen, he could see it all happen very well as the engines have massive screens, said there was absolutley nothing he could do as he just stepped out last second
can't be nice for anyone that mind
