Lad that didn't run is proper honest lad said he wouldn't want to win in that situation

First team cup game to play Shields in the semi

I believe you mate its just a shame the opposition didn't or if they did, didn't have the balls to sort it out. its one of them games that will leave a bitter taste for a while but at least you can't feel fully robbed of the cup as there would have been 3 games to play to win it.

Yeah that's poor on their part, I'd have given you the benefit of the doubt (if there was any) and withdrawn the appeal

Spoke to umps after game

We needed a few off the last over with wickets in hand. Lad hit a six then was out. My lad (next in) hit a two off first balll ran a bye then got run out trying to get back on strike, this gave us the last ball situation.

Apparently we would have lost being behind on scoring rate at the end of the 19 th

Brandon v Anfield Plain

The Plain 131 off 20

Last ball Brandon need 2 to draw 3 to win

Lad hits it for 2 as he completes his second run the ball deflects off him as it is thrown at the stumps.

Brandon lad stops in his crease not willing to win the game as he has deflected the ball away

Other batsman oblivious to the deflection goes for 3 run and is run out

Brandon loss tied game on wicket because of the run out

This is the key bit for me. If the other batsman had known it was a deflection and still run then I wouldn't blame Annfield Plain for taking the bails off BUT he didn't so you have to question AP's decision to go for the run out. There again, the fielder who threw the ball to go for the run out might have been in the same boat, could clearly have thought it was overthrows and therefore gone for the run out rather sensibly.

But since it's Brandon, we're going to hear about it for months!

Both batsmen ended up at the same end the lad had the ball in his hands it was not a split second decision

Aye, should have shouted " please don't run fellow batsman I have inadvertently deflected the ball away and running now to win the game would not be in the correct spirit"

This is brandon remember, anyone with a spine would have took the bails off. I would had done it and i would have laughed as i was doing it.
The rest of the league will be rejoicing now that these big time charlies are out.;-)

What happened between Shildon and Brandon that ARLC alluded to?

Brandon turned up to Shildon despite it being pissing down all night and for a good hour before they turned up. Umpires said pitch was playable, game was on. Shildon lads were told at 8.00am that the game wasn't on by the groundsman, Brandon are left fuming stating the pitch was fine. 20 minutes after the scheduled start, the clouds opened and didn't close again till 7.00pm and any play would not have been possible anyway. Brandon appeal to the league and are told to fuck off the moaning old bastards. Common sense prevails.

VOR hates this as he knows I'm right.

;-)
