haha he woke some of the old bastards up with that 6
If England were to go with 5 bowlers, I'd be tempted to bat Bresnan at 7, he's got a very sound technique and has scored hundreds for Yorkshire, unless of course they go with 2 spinners in the sub-continent in which case I think Patel might be worth considering. On the other hand, I'm not sure Bresnan is an ODI number 7 as he's got quite a classical technique and takes a while to get himself in, the problem England have there though is that Broad and Swann's ODI batting has been poor.
I think they will go 2 spinners in the winter, and I said a while back it would be Patel.
The problem the lower order lads have in ODIs is they rarely get a bat, so when they need to be called upon, they are not in any form to do so.
Aye, if you catch it off the wall with one hand it's still out, bottled it.
He played the situation perfectly.25 balls for that fourth 50 in the 200, after the first 50 had taken 134
you old bastatd
you never see kids playing that in the streets anymore
You dont see many streets actually:-(
That's true and I suppose that isn't their fault really, just frustrating when you see Broad and Swann hit test match fifties and then struggle to get out of double figures in ODI's.
I can't see who else they will go for other than Patel, picking Tredwell will mean they have 2 off-spinners in the side and Panesar can't bat so will leave them with a potentially long tail. They will go for Patel for his batting prowess, he could be an ideal number 7 as he can score runs quickly when needed. I had been concerned about the potency of his bowling but he's taken 9 wickets in Notts' match with Hants so far although to be fair The Rose Bowl should be renamed the Dust Bowl![]()
I'm only 31!!
Kumar looks a bit of a character, thought he looked useful in the IPL but I didn't think he'd get in the test team so quickly.

I'd imagine pretty similar to what the pitches in the sub-continent (is it Sri Lanka and Pakistan in UAE?) will be like. There's also Rashid, but I just cant see him getting picked. So Patel has gone from being too fat, to being the only other option. Looks like we might struggle if Swann gets injured any time soon.
Completely agree with that like. The follow on is only about 270, and on this pitch with this batting line up that doesn't seem anywhere near enough.I know it will get praised as an attacking move, but it is really a good idea to declare when Pietersen is batting at his absolute best and smashing it to every corner of the ground?
These 'tricky little 20 minute teasers' at the end of a session are overrated imo and rarely produce a wicket.
With India's batting line up it's a safe bet England will have to bat again to win this test with a total of 470, but an extra 30 minutes of Pietersen batting like that could've added a lot of extra runs.
Of course he could've got out next ball anyway, but then you declare...
