And if Graeme Swann has an average of 27 what does that make him?

decent but Singh has been around a lot longer.

Swann hasnt had his dip yet but he will have one eventually and its how we reacts which will say if he is the real deal

Getting to the top of rankings is easy staying there is the hard bit just ask Harmy

True. It'll be interesting to see how he does in the summer and winter against a strong Indian line up, and also how he fairs in comparison to Harbhajan in the series.

its a shame there are not more class bowlers in world cricket, because if the current malaise continues there will be no test cricket bar the Ashes in 15 years

Imran Tahir?

He plays for South Africa not India, dumb ass

During the last ODI they were on about Swann being no 1 in the ODI rankings and ripped the rest of the table. Couldn't disagree with them. Not sure if there's a dearth of talent at the minute or if it's a transition stage across the world. Not many great players knocking about at the minute and the ones still playing are are getting on a bit.

Don't think you can knock people for being the best of the current lot and any comparisons to other eras are totally subjective due to the conditions of wickets, bats, professionalism etc.

Just enjoy it for what it is.

I agree - quicks in this era have had to deal with flat pitches, faster outfields, better bats. I would say bowlers with an average in the region of say 31.04 are doing phenomenally well.

31.04 is the new 26

Dale Steyn is a world class bowler and has a test average of 23.21 and IMO is the only world class bowler in world cricket at the moment

England dont play half their matches on flat wickets though do they as the Sri Lanka series illustrated. It pissed down for the whole series

Essex boy: Genuine questions.....

Why do you watch cricket if you find the standard so poor nowadays, How do you find it enjoyable if the players who play the game aren't very good?

Also conditions are a major part of cricket for home teams, you seem to think that it's a new or bad thing maybes?. I have yet to find anyone on here who says Anderson is ''world class'' as you put it...but 50% of cricket he plays is in England so surely he is effective in the conditions which benefits the team.... He isn't the worst bowler in the world away from home neither... I really don't get your constant criticism of him. Alot more bowlers in world cricket worse than him in this 'shit' modern era of the game

Ps: I remember the abuse i chucked at you which was out of order but it's about the only time i have been wound up on a messageboard:-?

he's just worked the batsman over there and knocked the 5th wicket over

its a poor decision as its going wide of the stumps!

no the wonder india dont want review systems in place.....

singh gets another scandalous decision in his favour.

ball no where near the bat and the batsman gets given caught
