No, because as he's proven time and time again, he can't do it against international class bowlers.

Jimmy has fuck all to do with Luke Wright.
so you cant judge anyone who has been a regular until they have played for years
how many games/years did Jimmy get before nailing his place in the side
Games wise no more than Broad. His average after 36 test was better than Broads is now yet one was the devil incarnate and the other the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Broad is also in the midst of a career slump so averages are easy to poke fun at when one is in his peak form and the other is at the bottom of his form

He doesn't clear the ropes enough to be used as a number 7, and his technique is nowhere near good enough to find the gaps to hit fours and rotate the strike.I would like to see Wright given a prolonged chance at 7 with at least 8 overs given to him a game. He is the most natural number 7 ODI we have in county cricket but he has been messed around far too often and not given enough chances with the ball even though he does no worse than our main attack. If he is shite after that then fair enough. There is not many players who can hit as far as him and bowl 80mph+, he can when given the chance build an innings too.

His best role IMO is at the top of the innings to take advantage of the powerplays, but sadly for him he isn't anywhere near good enough to deal with international new ball bowlers.
In the case of Wright averages should be taken with a pinch of salt. If he had the luxury of building an innings with a 75 strike rate like the top order his basic stats would be far better. As it is he has to throw his bat for the good of the team time after time (much like Prior in Test cricket).
I hope he does, but I just don't see it.I disagree but I take your point. You can't blame anyone for not being convinced by him but i think he has the ability, just needs to bring it all together.
After 34 tests they both had identical career averages
Its not just about the amount of games, its the exposure Jimmy had had to international cricket even if not in the starting XI plus Jimmy is 4 years older so should be further along in his development.
Broad is also asked to fill a variety of roles with the ball in addition to having to concentrate more on his batting than Jimmy done
