potentially great news.

Lets not get carried away and start claiming easy wins like we did last season though.

Hopefully with us playing them 2nd game of the season, all of their french singings won't have fully settled yet.

Very true. Having the derby so early in the season is pretty much going to shape our season for many on here. It's one game. But it would be fantastic to give back what we got.

and without putting my neck on the line, i fancy us to win.

As we've said, they've replaced their nasty players with unproven french players and the reason they beat us last season was because of their nasty players.

Obviously there's a while left in the transfer window but it's looking promising.
 
our rivals became man utd because errrrrrr we were rivals at the top of the league..where were you? whilst you are making some decent signings you certainly aren't making me green yet, these comments do make me realise just how jealous you lot have been of us the last 20 years.it's as much a shock to us as it is to you that you managed to come out of the doldrums, enjoy your stability, but you've a long way to go yet before we can compare premier league achievements.

so you wouldnt consider you had achieved anything if you finished 2nd, got cl football etc? the trophy is the icing on the proverbial cake, but not the be all and end all.....how many cups do you see sland winning in the next 5 years?

Fair enough the players i mentioned are from the keegan era but the op compared this to then hence why i used this example. I could have compared to cabaye, ba and marveaux to wickham, larrsson and dong and presented a good case but thats probably been done to death on here.

Sorry but have I missed something? When have any of us claimed to be "world beaters" or expected to dominate the world as you say?

Are you taking a point and stretching it a little too far?

Also, prices were more sensible back in the Keegan days so players such as those that you mentioned were more affordable to teams like Newcastle, Blackburn et al

For what it's worth I don't think you have that much to be jealous off and, as usual, the proof will be in the pudding when the season kicks off. I won't and never have made rash predictions about us or any other team, but suffice to say, we'll be around the same area in the league in my opinion
