We are outspending them (well that isn't difficult as they chase a £1m welshman) and I expect us to outperform them this season.

I really can't see any of our fans going on like they did, to be brutally honest the players we have signed do not compare with the ones Keegan signed in the 90s.
We know how far we have came in the last few years but it's not the time to start thinking we are a top 6 contender, we are little old Sunderland after all

are you seriously comparing the signings of seb larrson, wickham and sun ying dop to the signings of shearer, ferdinand, ginola etc and playing champions league.

Surely he's indicating the difference in the two clubs not which players are better.
Newcastle, despite the fortunes they've spent, haven't won a current major trophy in half a century. The fans hate the manager, owner and chairman ........... the chairman and owner hate the fans. Whichever way you dress it up Newcastle have fallen a long way and your comment shows that. The players you mention are all long retired.
Having players, of the quality you indicate, and playing in the Champions League are as much a distant memory as that 1950's FA Cup win.

you cant deny that the op is trying to compare what sunderland are currently doing to what newcastle did in the 90's. He's trying to suggest that the signings made are making us shite ourselves and make us green with envy. Believe me they are not, yes wickham may be an exciting prospect but there is nothing else so far to suggest the expected world domination of the op.
Fair enough the players i mentioned are from the keegan era but the op compared this to then hence why i used this example. I could have compared to cabaye, ba and marveaux to wickham, larrsson and dong and presented a good case but thats probably been done to death on here.
its easy enough to call us deluded as people do on here so people cant complain if i do when people are prematurely claiming your signings are world beaters.
