Id rather have Steyn, Morkel, Kallis, Tahir any day of the week
Still hasn't played a test match for South Africa.

Best leg-spinner in the world and at 32 years old is still fighting Paul Harris for a test place. He really is some player.

just as i suspected marra.
he talks some shite that lad like

so whats everyones thoughts on the final day?

i suggest we bat out the first session, and aim for a lead of around 250-270 at lunch. look to bat another 45 minutes and declare with a lead of 300 with almost 2 sessions of cricket to knock them over.

will be interesting to see how pietersen plays this one. he is often tagged as a player who plays for himself. we shall see. hopefully he goes out and tries to move the game along quickly, rather than simply looking to stay in and get some runs under his belt.

Smash the fuckers about for an hour and 15, declare if lead is above 250, if not declare at lunch.

Lets have a proper go. This Test is winnable.

It is winnable but no need to be reckless.

your suggestion is leaving a target of 250 with 2.5 sessions. that is easily gettable for them.

it may be more difficult for them to see out 2 sessions with no real chance of winning that 2.5 sessions with a good chance of stealing it.

2 sessions plus half an hour?

1 hour and 15 minutes in a 2 hour session, 15 minutes for change of innings, leaves 30 minutes before lunch. Tricky period. But then Strauss isn't known to take big risks. So I'd imagine we'll bat the day out.

2 sessions to get 250 on this wicket? We'd get hammered

And also lose-able.

Half an hour before lunch (8 overs), afternoon session (30 overs), extended session tonight (47 over), so you're saying we should set SL a victory target of 250 in 85 overs?

Less than 3 an over?

Your insanity is getting worse.

Steyn - Class act
Morkel - Decent
Kallis - Back problems limiting his effectiveness
Tahir - Has never bowled a ball at Test level

News emerging this morning that Dilshan has broken his finger and will only bat today "in an emergency". If we do decide to have a go at them later on, him not playing/batting down the order could take quite a bit of sting out of their batting line up.

Having said that, I wouldn't want to see us declare until we have a lead of at least 300 and don't give them more than 1 and 1/2 sessions to chase it down. It leaves them with the dilemma of either going for it and taking risks, or potentially being too defensive and just trying to see out the rest of the day.

It's Cook who is batting selfishly - 23 off 63 balls. With plenty of batting in the hutch that's way too conservative. That's why the likes of Prior are invaluable - team over individual stats every time.

110 match extras.

Like watching the seconds. lolzors

....canny delivery like to be fair.

Good innings from KP there, not so much the number of runs, but the way he went about the innings. Sensible batting for a change. Hopefully Bell can up the run rate a bit now.
