Warks v Durham - LVCC

Great effort today after a bit of a dodgy start. Must say I've been impressed this season with the way the batting lineup is standing up without relying on Diva & Benks every innings.

Smith's 100 makes it 7 different centurians in 6 and a bit games, nine players averaging 40+, and five over 50.

Who said our batting was weak? :-D

In early season English greentop conditions where the ball always swings and gives seamers an unfair advantage. The same seems to happen every year where batsmen simply overcome these impossible conditions and score shedloads of runs.

Early season yellow-top this year of course. Not a seamer's vintage

hottest April/May for about 80 years and jimmy plays for Lancs and does sweet bugger all

with dampness in the tracks due to unseasonal rainfall

good to have you back

Which helped the bowlers to the extent that England scored more runs and broke more batting records in an Ashes series since records began.

Just dipping in and out these days due to it being blocked at work. I'm working on the technicians to sort it out!

against the worse Australian bowling attack in living memory with no spinner above club level standard

Why would they want spinners on the lush greentops? It'll never grip.

Back to Durham, what do we reckon, bat till tea if they can or is the weather crap? Get the bonus point then have a blast?

bat until an hour after lunch, get 550 then have 2.5 days to bowl them out tiwce

I'd declare now, tbh. We've got max batting points, the weather looks shit for the rest of the match, and we'd stop them picking up any further points in case it's a draw. Declare, have them 5 down by tea and they'll wobble.

They're starting to motor man. May as well rack up 550

Set 420 and they could well avoid the follow on, which we need to win

I dont think you can start basing any declaration on the future weather forecast on the 2nd morning of a 4 day match.

Get 550 just after lunch and then tear into them

Benks gone.

Good article on cricinfo saying how benign the pitch is, after they were fined 8 points for substandard crap in recent games
