Having him play in pre season is a must but it would be a poor choice for his development to have him as a number 2 sitting on the bench.

Good pre season, which is almost guaranteed. If Patto goes this summer Young with an experienced old head for support (Mannone would be ideal).

Quadruple his wages and play in cups winning honours along the way isn’t necessarily a bad decision and he’s young enough to both improve and okay plenty elsewhere if he didn’t get enough games.

Aye and playing just the cup games for the likes of Liverpool isn't like playing just the cup games at Sunderland (probably 15 games versus 2)

Like people have said apparently Liverpool interested.
Fair fks, with his experience at his age probably going to a massive club where he’ll play less will let him work in the background on the weeker aspects of his game ie Kicking and maybe being a little more vocal at the right moments.
Things work out and he gets a chance, takes it, he gets a shot at Liverpool number 1 and with it probably England recognition.
Thing don’t work out he’s set for life and will granteed get a shot at number 1 at least the level we’re at now but probably higher

Got told this months ago. Patterson is set to be sold in the summer for good money. Part of the reason we are prepared to let him go is because apparently Young is outstanding and will be number 1 next season
