Right folks, heading out for a recce on the Pieces of 8 @ Penshaw 10k race route this Saturday at 8.30am.......Meet at the bottom of Penshaw steps, all welcome whether you want to just have a look at the course or fancy a dodge out for a tough 10k......Dont worry about pace, no probs doing regroups etc

Sounds good to me, Ha'Way SMB runners no home game so what a way to start the day. I know @LadyMuck is up for it

Entered the half marathon for this last week. Doing a few flat halfs this year so looking forward to a tough one to mix it up a bit

Had to keep this one under wraps till everything was signed off but got a real treat for you this time.

I have trained up here at night so many times and it is something else.....We have even made the North East news tonight ha ha

http://www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/u...to-race-under-darkest-night-skies-in-england/

Articles seems to have hit many of the North East newspaper websites too.

Entries open noon on Sunday, strict limit of 300 in this first year and with the media coverage we have had I suspect those places will be gone quickly so get in early if you are wanting in :)

PS Penshaw 10K p8 recce still on Saturday 8.30am, meet at bottom of Penshaw steps

We've had some great coverage, on ITV breakfast news this morning apparently, Radio Newcastle yesterday and virtually every paper across the North East.....Suspect those 300 places will probably go quite quickly if initial feedback and responses are anything to go by....Entries open at 12 noon Sunday so if you want in get on it as some races can be sold out within minutes/hours (he says with his fingers crossed ha ha)

Did a run with @Bagpuss and other folk this morning around Penshaw, would encourage others to join in and sign up for the Penshaw Runs in June.

Cheers fella, was a great morning for running muddy hills, loved it and the crazy fog on the Monument just made it even better

Seen on facebook one of the lads at our club turned out for that, Lee Nixon from annfield plain. He loves the off road stuff like

Lee taken some cracking pics, available on Trailoutlaws facebook page if anyone interested in having a look......The fog and his eye for a pic made for some great shots :)

Alreet........Recce of 10k course next Saturday (28th) 8am..........Meet at bottom of Penshaw steps.

All welcome, dont worry about pace, everybody catered for and nobody left behind. Nice chance to have a look at the 10k course which is also the 2nd half of the half marathon course

Another recce for you and a really toughie if you fancy it...........We are running the middle 20 miles of the St Cuthberts Way Ultra on Saturday 21st March.....Its the toughest section of the run with a good few thousand foot of ascent.....This 20 miles is probably one of the most stunning runs around and well worth a dodge whether you fancy running the race or not.....Dont worry about pace, we will look after everybody so long as you are confident you can slow run 20 miles (walking beast hills)

We will be meeting in cars at Morebattle then driving half cars back to Wooler before running back to Morebattle and transporting people back to their cars. PM if you fancy it, if you dont have transport we can probs find space in cars from Sunderland (although you might have to travel in my shit heap)

I think it will rival Pieces of 8 @ Penshaw 10k in terms of pain.

Ohh aye, there's some hills in that map, I just been through the 1km marker at the burn (named biddick burn on the map) the council must have done that out recently* some energy zapping stairs in that little bit !

*the path has actually been fenced off near the waterfall, it's not too difficult to get around it but you might want to check it out before race day.

Its out stomping ground so luckily we are round here all the time to keep an eye on it. Certainly easier than keeping an eye on our routes on the Scottish borders :D
