There is without doubt a slight chance they will go for him like.

Obviously I don't want him to get the job but just forgetting that for a moment, lets just think about the requirements of an international manager.

The England manager has to do 2 things:

1) Qualify for major tournaments

2) Compete in major tournaments

In the past we seem to have cracked one but failed at the other, this may just be down to standard of opposition but this time around we were knocked out by a team who we wouldn't have worried about being in our qualifying group.

Maybe the cut and thrust of tournament football has more in common with the last 6 games of a relegation battle than it has to do with floating around in the top echelons of the premier league.

My point being that managers who have repeatedly proved succesfull at avoiding the drop maybe are better suited to "win at all cost" football whereas the managers who have spent all of their time at clubs who couldn't be relegated if they tried are more suited to stylistic football.

You could have BSA, Clough, Ferguson and Jose all in it together and it wouldn't make up for all the poor coaching that obviously goes on all over the country.

Players who can't think for themselves, who can only kick with one foot , who shrink from the ball and fold under pressure and who are so sensitive they need to be molly coddled and have their egos massaged constantly, will never do anything of note without foreign players, often displaying the opposite characteristics, looking after them at club level.

Stay where you are Sam. Drink not from that poisoned chalice if it is offered.

The tangible improvement in our team and the individuals is remarkable. His ability to spot where we needed to strengthen and get the right players in was excellent. His ability to galvanise the team and create a team spirit not seen since Reidy was in charge is commendable. His use of sports science belies his reputation and most of all, the fact that he takes no shit from time wasters and deals with them swiftly is refreshing.

I will be gutted if he gets the England job.

Spotting our weaknesses was easy.

Signing those 3 players on permanent deals at the cost of about £15M was nothing short of genius.

Don't underestimate this...Roy couldn't do it for England when we could all see it.

Be a nightmare, guess moyes is still available
a lot of bad scenarios -
1. If we get off to a great start the clamour will be huge for him
2. He just gets distracted by it all and takes his eye off the ball - though to be fair he kept focused during all the AJ stuff

fckin Hodgson man. All he had to do was beat Iceland and he'd have kept the job

Sam spent about 3 months trying to get a tune out of all the players we had here.

We were crying out for more steel down the spine of the team along with more creativity.

He nailed it but getting the right players in was 90% of the job.
