.. I am unhappy with the Labour Party and did not vote for them, but voting Lib Dem after what they did in goverment along with the tories, you have to be having a laugh mate ..

That's in government though. Like I said, I wouldn't vote for them on a national level, but credit to the bloke in my town, he is active and wants to do a lot to help the community.
That said, the labour lass won anyway, so I suppose I'm happy with that too. So long as I see some effort.

nobody cares man....it's my opinion they've come to hear

And if I wanted your opinion dear BB, I'd give you it.

There are people who really do vote like that, I've met them, but they are a minority which doesn't warrant becoming a stereotype. The "I've always voted labour because my did did" is an imagined community which doesn't exist. The reality is this, people vote individually based on a rational choice related to their own experiences, social norms and economic position.

People who vote Labour tend to do so because of fear of the tories, bad memories of tory governments and a belief nobody else will stand up for their economic interests.

From personal experience of many years in polling stations I have heard 'Dad, which one do I vote for' on a fair few occasions. It does happen.

Nobody votes because their Dad did, they vote because their parents socialised them into a particular set of values similar to their own and thus they likely vote the same way

So a lot of people vote the same way their parents did but not overtly because their parents did
