Anyone got this cold virus from Hell?

What seems like weeks and weeks I have been coughing up phlegm several times a day. It all started back in October.

Me and my lass came back from a meal and I got a head cold. That subsided but I was left with coughing up mucus consistently throughout the day. Not just once or twice but literally constantly. I could not see my main GP as he was on holiday but I got to see some nurse of some kind. I had a sputum test done and was all clear. She sounded my chest - nothing. She said it was coming from the head so she gave me a mild course of antibiotics as she was reluctant to give it owing to it being bacterial and not viral. Other than that it was use salt water wash up by nasal passages. That worked for a bit but it returned. I went back for another test and again all clear. I’ve since tried Benylin, Sudafed, Benadryl (most on the “advice” of others) every one has failed. I am not doing it as often but I’m still doing it.

I’ve heard Tumeric is good for clearing mucus but I don’t know how to take it. I’ve tried in tablet form but that doesn’t work. I’ve tried multi vitamins but that doesn’t work either.

I don’t know what else to do.

If you want to try turmeric, just heat it in hot water, you can add honey and milk as well.

Got mine on the 13th. So 13 days ago. Yesterday was the first day I did anything involving physical work and even then I took it pretty easy (wanted to do loads of gardening, but only did a little bit of pruning and tidying up).
So yeah, a good 2 weeks to get over this one.

Reading more and more people with similar symptoms that say its Covid - so perhaps it was that after all, the missus had her flu jab and still got whatever this was.

I was fucked like must have averaged about 1000 steps a day if i was lucky for a week

I think our immune system is knackered- covid, people not going out, working from home we aren’t getting the bugs we used to into our system and when we do our bodies can’t react.
I usually would only get a cold once or twice a year. In the past 12 months I’ve had 5 colds and 1 bout of Covid :) This is whilst eating the same balanced diet as usual, exercising etc. Even started taking multivitamins as well.

I say this all the time..anytime i go out..if it’s a bit cold or if i get wet..guaranteed I’ll be sniffling the day after.

Been pretty much in bed all day today having started feeling a bit rubbish on Friday. Pounding headache that nothing is shifting, fever and hacking cough. Tested positive for Covid and it’s much worse than last time I had it.

First day I’ve not been able to do any work due to illness for about five year.

Just got some antibiotics for similar symptoms. I haven't stopped coughing up phlegm for over a week now. Got a little worried when I thought I coughed up a lung 😬 so went to the docs. Standard tests were fine she did a quick blood test and showed I had a bacterial infection. Hopefully this will fix me.

Just got rid. Had it all last week, usually shrug anything like that off within a 3 or 4 days, but this floored me. You can see as you get older, how something like that could kill a person in their mid 70s+ who wasn't maybe in the best of health to start with. Strange though that I got it, having been out socialising 3 days on the bounce, I'm usually a bit of a lone ranger, and rarely catch anything as a result, first time I go out in ages, and I catch something.

Had a bad cough 12 months ago for about 3 months.
Must of pulled summat, still get pains in me abdomen and it's not from the weight of me schlong 😁
Wor lass says I should garn the doctor but I cannot be arsed.

Any one else had shoulder and arm pain from the flu? Our workplace had never had so many off due to flu. Our lass also experiencing the same symptoms.
Yes, I have. I can hardly lift my arms without getting a dull pain in my upper arms and across my shoulders. I thought it was my angina at first but no chest pain. I've also lost nine pounds in weight and slept 48 hours over the last three days, it's fkn horrible, worse than when I had covid.
