Running Thread 2015

10 Mile in 1:33, close to race pace now, pretty chuffed with that since I only went out to do 8.

That concludes my distance training, two weeks to let the blisters and shins heal. Will pop to the gym a few times but not doing any more running.

There's a pattern emerging here fletch :)
you're starting to sound like my missus ;) , but you are right , its tricky when you've got a big group of friends who you've went around with since teenage years, none of them give a shit about running!
I'm meant to be at a 40th house party next sat and do tees 10k the next morning !!

may have a redcar half entry going spare if anyone wants it (£10 - think paid about £25 but will check later, just need to transfer name on entry but easy to do online)

another great run from you yesterday mate, you're flying, sounds like your son is a chip off the old block enall !

Ended up on the Beamish path again! 18 mile.....had planned 20 but my trainer fell apart after 17!! Good job my new ones are ordered

I run on there sometimes!

Never got out during the week last week as I was mega busy with work, and never got out this weekend as I went to Villa and Cadbury World. Was planning a run this morning, but I woke up with a really bad headache at 5am and then I was sick so I didn't feel like going!

Got the Washington 10K trail next weekend, so I'll have to try and squeeze a shorter run or two in during the week if I can.

Just got my bit running tourism in down the capital. Fought my way to kings cross through the crowds and thought thd whole run was going to be a huge fuvk on stopping and starting. Asked someone if there was a quieter route to regents park and he directed me a few 100m to Camden lock. Loverly 2 mile run down there took me into regents park where I did a random couple of mile before I headed back to the hotel.

If you know the areas well I imagine there will be some cracking runs around the big parks, Regent's, Hyde etc but it would be a nightmare trying to fight your way to them parks if you didn't know the quieter routes

I should have been out this weekend.... Instead the back to work blues have hit big style (plus my hip has been playing up). Back to work tomorrow & harriers tomorrow night.... Hopefully my mojo will return!!

Dreading my sports massage on Weds night too, I've been reliably informed that I'll feel brilliant the next day or so but the thought of meeting someone for the first time & then them inflicting pain is more than slightly daunting!! Hoping to get a long ish run in on Saturday then taking the kids to do the Subway 5k on Sunday.

After three years of hell finally did a 5k without injury.Took 35 minute which a few years ago I would have been appalled at anything over 19 minutes. now I am overjoyed.

Enjoy your running, you never know when time and injury catch up.

Who knows..maybe one more marathon before it is all done.

Aye, still jelly.
The route was brutal, all hills. . .barely any flat. The uphills were steep and real hard work, the downs were too steep to pelt it down. You'd just catch your breath in time for another ascent.
I got round in 61mins, think only the top 6 made it under the hour.

I'd do it again though :)

61 mins? Fuck me that's an amazing time. Loved the route my first time and managed it without stopping.

Thanks mate. Enjoyed the route too, nice to do something a little different - there's so many flat/fast road races about.

Seen quite a bit of whinging on Facebook about the hills - they did publish the elevation map in advance so it can't have been a surprise.

The first two miles were downhill anyway, though I doubt many enjoyed them knowing what was to come :)

Got my final 'big' run in last night until the GNR. Went out intending on 10 but did 11 in the end. Slower pace than my target but feel confident of pulling that out on the day.

What are people's plans entering the final weekend?? I know people are different etc, I have in mind just 2 or 3 faster 5/6 miles runs before next Sunday. Want to try and keep 'fresh'...

Going into the final week if any long run I personally would just do a slow 5k on the Monday and Wednesday to keep the legs ticking over them give myself 3 days solid rest before race day

I was going to do a 5-6 miler tomorrow night after work and I'm entered in a 10K trail on Sunday, then a couple of shorter ones during next week. However I'm absolutely loaded with cold, so I might knock tomorrow on the head and see how I feel on Sunday.

A man on the train home on Sunday was coughing and sneezing without covering his face. I have a weakened immune system due to my Crohn's treatment, so I probably have his germs. All the care I've taken looking after myself over the last few months, so I'm good for the GNR and that one stupid knacker might have ruined everything. I'm really quite cross about it

Going to do some track repeats in the morning, a slow bimble round the parkrun on Saturday, Middlesbrough 10k on Sunday, then a couple of slow 5ks at around 60% of my Max Heart Rate Monday & Wednesday next week
