Has anyone ran Manchester marathon? Considering running this after not getting into London and wondered what the course is like? Is it a bit event etc?

As it will be my first marathon I think I will stay in the country.....flat sounds good, I will give the fast bit a miss as I will probably do a steady pace for my first marathon just so I know I can complete one!

I'm tempted to signup for the Poppy run in Silksworth, is anyone else on here doing it?

Will you be there Friday? I was talking to a lad called Lee in my group (late 20's, his dad runs too) and he said not many turn up on a Friday. I'm hoping I won't be out with a load of Mo Farahs

Friday is normally around 10k and has a sweeper so nobody gets left behind. normally around 15 or so turn up with a real mix of ability. Its meant to be an easy run so will have lots of re-grouping.

Hard track session tonight, 6x400, 6x300, 6x200. . hate the shorter stuff. Needs to be done though, cross country soon.

Racing on Sunday in Stanley, race is called the hellhole 10k :)

What kind of rests do you do in between reps there mate? Getting bored of the pyramid track sessions now

45secs between each effort, then 90secs between each set (ie. moving from 400s to 300s).

They all get boring, just to have to keep varying the distances. Short stuff one day, then 4x mile next time or 6x1k. 16x400s is the most tedious

I use a local industrial estate as a sub for the track sometimes, it's a mile and a half round it. I run laps of that with 1min, 2min bursts etc

Anyone park running tomorrow? 10th anniversary of it's start - fantastic achievement

Loads of regrouping on Fridays.
Just over 6 mile with the strollers tonight. Enjoyed it again, right mixed pack of ability. We ran places I never knew existed and will run that way when I go out on my own.
Did you notice a first timer on Wednesday? A lad (I reckon 20's) tall and slim. He had a high vis Nike singlet with nowt underneath, tight cycling shorts and he had a sleeve tattoo.
