Ouch.

I felt some knee pain on the treadmill yesterday (sharp kind of pain) which I hadn't felt before so immediately stopped and went on the crosstrainer for 40 minutes instead without any further issues.

I was doing weights today and although my knee had been fine I decided not to risk causing further problems by squatting.. then like an absolute mug I grabbed some dumbbells and started doing sets of lunges. Not one of my finer moments, knee pain is back with a vengeance.

Hoping I've just knocked it over the weekend or something and it'll be back to normal in a few days, but can't believe I was so daft when I'd initially decided not to do anything to risk aggravating it.

Excellent night through the Neptune relay at sedgefield park. Our little club had two 4 man teams in. Each member had to run a 1.5 mile leg. Strange distance when you are not use to running it. I set off like a train and can remember looking at my watch half way round and thinking I have shot my bolt here:lol:. Great turnout, must have been 30+ teams in

If such a thing exists, tonight a did a 19 mile recovery run. Very steady from the start but still hard work after another long run on Sunday. Need to keep the training going to the end of the week, then a couple of weeks tapering for the marathon.

Do you have tight hamstrings or calfs? All the knee pain I have had has been caused by this. I was trying to work out the cause of the knee pain for ages but went to physio and worked on my tightness and this sorted the knee pain. Maybe the same for you.

there were 120 teams and it was just over 1.6m. apart from that a really good race report cheers :) what time did you do?

Ow archie lad... you need a word with your mate Dan, must have been a pacemaker/helper for the beginners group last night, sounded like he was trying to impress all the women

That many eh:eek::lol:

I went round in just over 11 minutes. The plan for our little club was to get a A,B and C team with me being in the B. I reckon our A would have done well in the non affiliated competition as we have some good runners in it. Unfortunately due to drop outs we only manged two teams and myself along with another got bumped up to the 'A' team and as you can see by my time I am not really to good a runner for that. The lad on the first leg got us off to a good start but when I went out 2nd eveyone was streaming past me for the first half a mile:oops::lol:. Cracking event mind, our 'A' team finished 53rd with our 'B' team 86th. Were you running like mate?

The beginners were class last night, had a little mishap but unfortunately the mishap got in the wrong pack.

Knee still bloody sore after two days. And today is meant to be my last 10k before the Sunderland run.

Will see how it feels this Sunday and if okay will do 10k. If not then guess I'm not running until the Sunderland 10k

That would be two weeks without running and then into the 10k.

I've been told to have 8 weeks off to let my hamstrings recover. Back at the gym thankfully though otherwise I would be climbing the walls wanting to do some form of exercise. Plenty of stretching and mobility work to do.

good luck mate, hopefully you're back for the summer

Just completed my last big training run before Sunderland half marathon. Done a shade over 10 mile round Peterlee. Castle Eden, Blackhall before a lap of Horden in 1hr 29 minutes. Happy with that especially considering I have been up since 5am for work so wasnt exactly feeling 100% fresh before I set off. Plan now is couple of 3 milers on Monday and Wednesday to wind down before 3 complete rest days before the race itself

ive been to physio this morning and been to I have to stretch a hell of a lot, my hamstring and calfs are so tight, been told to ease off the running but not told to stop thankfully, good luck and hope it all turns out ok for you, ive been strectching like mad today and have the start of man flu coming on so a few days rest for me.

Thanks mate. The break from running will be refreshing to be honest and nice to start up again in the good weather.

Aye just keep up with the stretching every day and it will loosen off. good luck with it

sick as a dog today so missed one run so far. Hoping it clears up for the weekend as i need at least one more long run. Marathon three weeks on Sunday. Had hoped for a 22 miler but that's not looking likely now. Wil enjoy resting my legs over the two weeks in the run up!
