does he do karaoke on a night out.. or is that his mate

Gerupta Singh

I'm certain he could be blessed by the Sikh gods when he sneezes so very much doubt youwould have upset him...

Sounds like the same lad that used to work as a pool attendant at Crowtree. Demanja Bandin was his name, though.

Sikh's are sound as fuck so even if you said something "incorrect" they'd probably just ignore it like normal people do
This

I know it's petty but I fuckin hate it when people bless me when I sneeze. Don't even know why but it just annoys the shit out of me, just let me sneeze without thinking I need blessed.
They may be worried that you travelled into work from some still Plague-ravished village.

Assuming Sikhs speak Punjabi then there are two correct things to say in that language which translate as either "Glorious Lord" or "May you be blessed", so I think "Bless you" should be pretty safe. The correct response translates as "Thank you", so frankly the Sikh guy is bang out of order here and has been pretty ignorant in not thanking you

Did you just say "bless you" or did you say "Catholic blessings upon you, you heathen, perhaps now you may see the light and embrace the love of our Lord saviour, Jesus Christ"? Because if it was just the first one, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Fuck me. It must be a nightmare to be around you if you have a cold

Possibly but it's just annoying. Then there's the added pressure of having to thank them for annoying you. An enjoyable experience of a sneeze can turn into an absolute nightmare.
You're putting too much pressure on yourself mate, they won't judge you if you don't thank them for blessing you... remind yourself of that the next time you are blessed and the annoyance may be less? Or you could get your chopper out and say "bless this, suckers!!"

...just sneezed and I instinctively said 'bless you' to him. He's a top bloke, so I'm sure he wasn't bothered, but what's the culturally perspicacious SMB's opinion on this? Was I in the wrong? Should I have thought before speaking? Does it not matter?

It's an utterly meaningless phrase anyway. I have worked with Sikh blokes in London and not one of them mentioned anything about their religion.

You do realise they are allowed to carry a dagger on them
