 its gan up 30m since the thread started.

Sure read it was £80 million, maybe that was the window that got them relegated. At least we only spent £3.50 getting relegated ;)

He's got 2 decent championship players for each position- it's not rocket science no matter how much they want you to believe it is. When it mattered, he failed and they were relegated, and he won't get 2 decent premier players for every position once they are back up because it will cost them £140m+ as well as having a squad full of championship players on decent wages to keep paying for. No one is talking about what they will do once promoted, it's all joy right now but that is the elephant in the room.

Said exactly this when they were buying the way they did in the summer.....This is exactly what Keano did to get us out of the Championship and tbh we have been firefighting ever since as continuing to pay Champs players on big contracts when we got promoted meant we struggled to buy Prem quality and struggled to get them off the books. Newcastle will have exactly the same problem

The mags, despite the relegation, are reaping the rewards of actually turning a profit. That and having players they could sell for a fortune when they went down. Have a feeling that if/ when we go down it'll be a massive contrast since we lose money even in the top flight and have very few players that will go for decent fees. Absolutely vital that we stay up this season, really f***ing hope we randomly get something off arsenal (other than a hammering!). As for how the mags would do when they come up, to be honest I imagine they'd be fine, there's not really the massive gap between the leagues that people seem to be suggesting there is, plenty of sides have come up and stayed up; they'd be full of confidence and would have money to invest, no reason to think they'd do badly at all. The prem isn't actually all that good, which again makes our struggles even more f***ing annoying

Aye, they had some family silver to sell and got top money for it, and held their nerve really well on the Sissoko sale. For all Ashley's faults, he's been a genius at transfer dealings. We don't really have any family silver to sell do we, except Pickford, but if the recent history of the Giacc and Kaboul suggests we will just give him away for a couple of quid.

Still, I'm fed up with being annually shit in this league anyway! :)

To be fair in todays market probs get best part of £40 million for Kone and Pickford. Having said that I agree, if our negotiators get on the job we will probably be paying fees for them to leave just so we can free up their wages. We are f***ing rubbish in the transfer market.

But half of our players will be decent squad players in the premier league if we do come up, Yedlin, Clark, Ritchie, Shelvey, Gayle, which we'll be able to add to because unlike you we can attract a decent calibre of player.

Not to mention Roy Keane wont be our manager, there's always that advantage

Sounds like you've got it sorted. Canny.

Recruited well for the Championship. Have one hell of a manager. Different story if promotion happens and have to re buy all over again.

Does help that they were able to outspend every other team by about £40 million (aye I know they sold players blah blah blah).

Not a chance you would get anywhere near 16m for Kone now. He will be what 29 in the summer? On the back of a shocking season (unless he turns it around) should have sold him when you had the chance.

Did we spend £40m more than Villa?

Everything's going canny for them like!....it's sickening me inside every time I see their score line pop up. I really do hope they hit a wall at Christmas time. The smoggies done the same a few years ago then blew it in the final 3rd. Here's wishing, fingers crossed.
They were always going to win that division with or without Benitez. Too many people writing them off at the start of the season and over estimating how good the championship actually is.

I would rather win lots of games than lose lots of them, not really that bothered which league we are in

Apologies, £15 million.

Why do I get the feeling that in the next year or so the mags will be complete arrogant knob heads again. Granted they've always been like that but if we're in the league below they'll be unbearable.

Clark is shit yedlin average shelves hit and miss Gayle ok but not prolific Ritchie is quality mind

I recall whed saying that micmac should be awarded freedom of the city for getting us promoted.
Point being its a joke league and the gulf in class is enormous
