Measured Respond to the window

For those who want at least one discussion that doesn't descend into hysterical name calling.

This thread is an opportunity to take a breath, perhaps acknowledge there's a lot of unknowns but try to discuss what the team looks like without being a little bitch about it. Are there any free agent strikers that could do a job? Could the Everton fans who post on here shed some light on what Moyes might do without Defoe and Borini in terms of tactics? How might the team line up with the new signings? What's Denayer like?

- Given how reluctant we've been to pay big fees this window we have to assume/hope/hope beyond hope that N'Dong has something about him.

- Kirchoff is hopefully available soon and was arguably a bit better than M'Vila for 60 minutes a game.

- New right back looks decent.

- Januzaj looks decent.

- Kaboul will be a big miss.

- We kept Kone.

No idea about anything else.

Add in the following:

-Papy looks decent.

Denayer is an excellent pick up, as were Januzaj and manquillo, papy looks OK, jury very much out on the rest.

biggest error is obviously the lack of striking options

Honestly, it looks like it will be a difficult season if Defoe doesn't score and/or gets injured...

Not the disaster some on here would like to believe , some good players have come in , hopefully quality over the quantity of previous years , the striker situation worries me but time will tell

Lack of back up striker to Defoe is definitely a concern but glad we didn't panic buy more deadwood.
The one I can't get my head around is the money spent on McNair and Love ,neither look much of a step up from our U23s lads . Hope they prove me wrong but even when we had no CBS available McNair couldn't get a game in the position I thought we had bought him to cover.

Djilobodji - Happy with this despite bizarre fee, good on the ball, should be part of a strong defence as Moyes works to gel them together.
McNair - Harsh to judge yet but we needed quality now, not potential. Maybe he will go on to be a good player given time.
Love - Same as McNair.
Januzaj - I like this lad. Looks very promising, huge potential and a manager who has shown he can get it out of him.
Manquillo - Solid, dependable. Difficult to comment yet but that's what he looked like against Southampton.
Ndong - Unknown, sounds like he has the right attributes but transfer fee seems like we've overpaid.
Denayer - Decent loan signing as cover.
Mika - Never heard of him.

Kaboul and Lens departures... bizarre, the latter mainly because of our lack of cover in that part of the pitch. The failure to secure a new striker I think is unbelievable, just sheer incompetence.

I don't think it's been a bad window, by any stretch. We've signed some good players that have improved the squad and we may well end up with half decent cover at GK and CF from free agents.

I don't think we're in anything like the parlous state some folks are claiming.

Edit: Seems like we may have signed a 'keeper.

Be quite happy if it wasn't for injuries. Disappointed M'villa didn't come in, Ndong is unknown but hopefully he'll be good. Very suprised given the finances we broke our transfer record.

Lacking up front, but more disappointed with not getting M'villa as he'd have actually been a starter. Feelings would obviously change on that with any injury to Defoe. I'd honestly sign Anichebe for a year as a 'lump up front' option for a season, with a view to replacing in January. I'd have been happy enough with Borini as cover tbf - seeing as he's decent there, just not the type I'd ideally want.

The only 3 things I am annoyed at

Selling Kaboul

Not signing a striker (criminal)

Signing McNair and Love.
