and more importantly the British Legion (or the area around the British Legion) in Silksworth.

What's it like? I've got no knowledge of that area at all and after some advice - genuine advice if that's at all possible

What advice do you want?
Don't eat yellow snow. There's some advice for you.

is it a shithole?

Are the locals nice and welcoming?
Wouldn't have a clue mate. I've driven through a few times on the way to Ryhope. But that was about 30 years ago now, so in not really much help. The Silksworth I remember was a pit village that had a dry ski slope.

I lived in Vicarage road for 10 years, played for Silksworth Sportsmans arms for 20 years in the Sunda5league and Silksworth for a year in the Wearside league, the lads who live there are all canny except a few who thought they knew better than the It at twins, my next door neighbour but 1 was Jarvy Forth, he used to sort them out though, had lots of beers with the lad, thin, but quick as lightning and hard, and I mean hard. He was always fair and never looked for trouble.

Davy Mason runs the Golden Fleece, great lad, his Mrs Marcy a great lass,

I know Jarvy well I go shooting with him he is nuts

I used to live in Silksworth til I upgraded to East Herrington and now I only visit to sneer out of my car window or on my infrequent trips to the sunbed shop on the main street. Canny fella the lad who owns that like.

Must have been awkward with all them footballers playing around you

I've lived in Silky all my life, and have always been happy living here.
My Gran lived behind the Legion several years, and it always seemed a chilled/quiet area.
