Rafael Benítez

He managed to beat 3 of our relegation rivals. It's killing you lot that Allardyce isn't this anti-football coach who isn't good enough to manage Newcastle. When the facts show he's a good PL manager who'll get average teams to preform. We are both average clubs. We can't expect to compete with the mega clubs in the league. The best we can hope for is to get into the top 10 and push for a EL spot. Maybe a cup final or two.

You lot are talking about CL. Just weeks after relegation. Do you really think he can do that?

I think Leicester have shown anything is possible with the right setup and a bit of luck.

The increased money has levelled the playing field massively and clubs now need to be more ambitious.

I thought Leicester were going to blow a huge lead. Newcastle made me think that was possible, I forgot how special you lot are though. Silly me.

Just been to the bookies next door and was chatting to Shirley, (She has come out of retirement and works back there now, 2 days a week, (3 days if Stan is on holiday).

Anyway, we were talking about the mags and that and she looked up that Rafa is 16/1 to be the first manager sacked next season, could be worth a few ££, especially if they lose their first few matches.

Anyone fancy a flutter?

You won't be getting next year's money though.......

Could see him resigning if they start poor like Advocaat here.

Does he really want to be there or is it just because he's getting paid alot of money and nobody else wants him after he failed at Napoli and Real Madrid

Of course he is, because he's a very good tactician and commands the respect of his players. He's the best we could have possibly hoped for, he's much better than the position he is in.

I'm not expecting your agreement with this in any shape or form.

He is a solid manager, no doubt about that. And he is obviously an upgrade on Tufty and better than many names mentioned, though his recent record suggests a man with his peak behind him. Still a good appointment though.

There are reasonable questions he will need to answer about his suitability to the Championship, and why his team, despite an improvement could not really play under pressure.

But it is not true that he is better than the place he is in. I have the best job I can get. So does he. If a better one came along for me I'd have taken it. So would he have .

You lot? Fish and Chip shop owners?

Good point, i reckon he'll be gone by Christmas.

He turned them all down......

Have I missed something ?

Has he agreed to stay ?

Edit: Just seen the other thread. Can just see the waiter flappin' around in the Championship.

16/1 is a decent price. He will walk after 2 months IMO when reality hits

Don't really understand this line about Benitez struggling because he's not managed in the Championship before. He sets his side up to be difficult to break down, to be compact and patient. It's not like he's Arsene Wenger, trying to play neat little passing triangles, apt to be bullied off the ball by big scary centre halves from Leeds.

Could be a massive failure or a massive success. What are the odds on him finishing higher in the league than Sunderland next year? I am fairly confident on that one.

Yet they finished 2nd in the premier league.
