A bit of a generalisation, and you have to consider who sits there. Me dad is 78 next birthday, we sit in East Stand because he's comfy there, people around us are great.
Yeah I understand that bit but nobody should be telling a child to be quiet if the rest of the stands got behind the team the stadium would be bouncin and that's the reason I said go to the south stand

the east stand is the lifeblood and the real heartbeat of the club. the real big roars always eminate from there:cool:
Never heard it

I've said if she was sitting beside me I'd be encouraging her to sing and singing with her. Like all parts of the ground you can't judge on one person/ situation.

What people forget is that we all get older and the people in the South stand now will hopefully grow old enough to want to move away and sit somewhere less vocal where they can sit and watch the game. Some of the people now sitting in the East stand with a blanket and a flask are probably the same people who created the great Roker Roar in the 60's in those legendary cup ties and the same people who stood on the terraces at Hillsborough in 73.

Time moves on.

Good post! I'm a veteran of the Fulwell End in the sixties and '73 and I've had a season ticket in the East Stand at the Sol since we moved there. There are lots of young'uns in there as well as the more mature like me,and the atmosphere can be brilliant. There are also some pricks, mind, but you get them wherever in the ground you go.

my 4yr old daughter was told to be quiet and told to stop singing " SUNDERLAND, SUNDERLAND "
during the game ,because she was " getting on my nerves" by fellow sunderland fans
ffs i was gob smacked
Tell these fans to take up knitting...it always works for me.

Maybe not all parents are as perfect as you obviously were. That's no reason to take it out on the kids.

If there is one think I really hate in life its smug parents who think they are better than everyone else, without knowing the circumstances or anything really.

The worse parents are the ones who expect everyone to find little Johnny's irritating behaviour as endearing as they do. Basic consideration for others is a 2 way street imo.

Anyway, the OP's bairn might have been a really shit singer. Out of tune and getting all the words wrong.

Regardless of where you were sitting it was a mean spirited thing to do to a little girl who was probably at her first match . I hope it didn't put her off bless her.

Always good to see the Uber fans berating their fellow fans............pathetic.

No, my first post was merely in jest. However if you read my latter post you'd see the only problem I've had with these sort of things (or anything) are with people in the east. Sat there for 2 years and the majority of people I was with were sound.
