Its been put back more times than we've been going to sign paul scholes. It is the case. Current plan is to close Pallion in 2018/19. This might change bearing in mind the first date set to close it was 2016, I think.

Work there? What a load of crap
I thought that was the case, the Pallion one making way for the new road???
Wouldn't be surprised if it's still there in 2020,hopefully!It's been gonna move for about 6 years. Nowt to do with the road.
No, but I'd like to know how you can say "There have been plenty of good paying factory jobs in Sunderland that have gone elsewhere because the workers thought they had it good but took it easy", unless you are a CEO of one of these companies?Work there?
It's a cash cow some of them pride on milking with very little effort.

Good... great enginesNo great detail at the minute. It's just a follow on from the announcement that senior management will be hit with job losses.
This will be a worldwide restructure and any affect on Wearside will be minimal if at all.
It's probably not shutting, things are in the process of being arranged with Pre-Prod at Castletown but nothing definite yet. Most of the restructuring will be to do with the senior management, the local sites won't be affected directly.
In the process of moving out.

Fleet Support plant was officially signed off yesterday. And the current pre-prod facility which was planned all along to close looks like it will be opening/staying open as a special processes plant. Great news.
The one that was always going to be there. It had been mooted that one of the current pallion factories might have been refurbed to accommodate it too. It's been a bit up in the air recently though with regards to the company restructure and whether they would commit that investment especially having announced substantial job losses in recent times. The original decision was delayed which was a bit worrying so glad of this announcement. Is that the factory that was always going to be at washington or an extra one on top of those plans?
