Buttler and Ali

Should Ali be promoted to bat at 7 with Buttler coming in at 8.?I think they should exchange positions.

I wouldn't drop Buttler but if Bairstow gets runs and he doesn't his place will be under pressure, no doubt.
 
It amazing how things change. After Buttlers brilliant one day inning loads on here were saying he was our best player, it was an insult he was batting behind Stokes and Ali but for me he is a very talented but totally unproven player. I would have him at 8 with the instructions to be far more positive.

No doubt he's a very effective one day player, he seems stuck in two minds though playing test cricket. Hopefully Bayliss has a word and tells him to play his natural game.
 
I think Ali has done amazingly well at no8. If you jude a good decision by how well it comes off then him at 8 is the best decision this year, probably.

Will get pelters on here for it but I'm not convinced Stokes is a test 6. We've got three number sevens in my mind but that in combination makes for a cracking lower middle order.

Yes, but do you recall when flintoff first got into the side, he looked overweight, was a trundler and was dropped and then he went away and reinvented himself as a demon fast bowler.......
