Wickham to Palace

Regardless of what the actual fee is, an up front payment of £6 mil shows as pure profit . Seeing as you can raise your wage bill from sources other than TV cash, that works out about 60 grand a week for 2 players. If we've got money for transfers but the wage bill was the problem, selling Wickham frees up some wages from him going and gives us money to raise the wages.

I cant understand why people refuse to acknowledge he's only 22 as well. I can think of few young players getting goals at that age; Rooney and Owen perhaps. Even Shearer only got 4 goals in his corresponding season in terms of age. He's going to be a very good player.
Defoe

I think the club would be delighted if anyone wanted was to take Fletch or DG off our hands, problem is, up to now this does not seem to be happening. If we are honest aside from Defoe none are good enough and the first firm offer we have taken, in a bid to raise cash to strengthen a problem area.
I honestly want fletcher and graham to prove me wrong and id be more than happy to eat humble pie but having watched their efforts or in fletcher lack of effort last night i think we are making a serious mistake moving wickham on before these two.

Strange one. On one hand, surely other options to sell first. Fletch or Graham?
However, is this going to be the year fletcher kicks on? Last year of contract so he is either gonna work hard to get a new one with is or work hard to put himself about. If so he may be a better option than Connor.

However, Connor hasn't exactly set the goal scoring charts alight and if between Dick and Lee they can bring someone in who can hit double figures, this is a significant improvement and would be deemed good business.

We obviously can't shift them can we?

We've been shit since Reid left, Whickam, Fletcher, Graham and Altidore cost nearly £40m quid and have scored fook all in 3 years.....

If we can replace them with players like Lens who the fook is gonna complain.........Advocaat is ruthless, you're the weakest link ya fookin gone, do for me.........£9-10m, £60k a week and a tattooed fookwit off the books, fookin genius in my book........

Rooney and Owen were scoring goals a lot younger than that tbf.

Problem is no one else wants Graham or Fletcher otherwise they would already be gone

True. But whilst I'd be happy enough if we failed to get a striker in and had Wickham and Defoe having added Lens and a quality midfielder, if losing Wickham means we're more reliant on Fletcher or Graham and we don't get a striker in, but maybe add to midfield I'd be worried about all three strikers adding enough, because none for one reasons or another can carry the ball or possess the one or two strengths Wickham has. Also looking at how we lined up last season and preseason it doesn't seem as if Dick is going to play Defoe as an actual striker.

I don't have that much faith in Wickham tbh, but because he can run and he can carry the ball and occasionally be strong I think he's the only one we have that can really play up front in the 433 at this level.
