Is this the done thing in some families ? ! Met some lass the other night aged 23 who was still living with her mum and dad and had never moved out ! Rule always was in my family you moved out the summer after you were 18 either go to uni or get job / rent own house .
Anyone got any experience of this surely you end up getting on each other's nerves and don't gain much independence ?
It sounds like your parents wanted shot of you as soon as possible. So they didn't have to be quite when making the beast with two backs

Mate i'd hate to be your age and be trying to get on the property ladder in the uk now, its one expdnsive business
TBH mate I've decided to just let it go re: how bollocksed everything is for a lot of people in my age group and just get on with life. If I can rent a nice flat I'm happy with and learn from the mistakes I made last time I moved out, then go me! Can drive yourself nuts thinking too much

My eldest is 18 this year but still at college so he can't support himself yet. I've said he can stay as long as he wants to as I've not got the heart to kick him out.

What a stupid rule. Are you elderly ?

Feel so sorry for kids these days. Thought it was bad in the early `90`s but managed to buy a house in Durham on 2X my trainee salary. That same house now is so expensive that I couldn`t afford it on my 20 years + in the job and wife's wage + savings. Things have got totally ridiculous and unaffordable for most. As always I blame the banks for increasing lending multiples which pushed up prices to the very limit of those multiples now even those with good jobs struggled to get on the ladder.

Last time I was home I heard they were giving money to kids in sixth form/ college. What's that all about then?
