Is this the done thing in some families ? ! Met some lass the other night aged 23 who was still living with her mum and dad and had never moved out ! Rule always was in my family you moved out the summer after you were 18 either go to uni or get job / rent own house .
Anyone got any experience of this surely you end up getting on each other's nerves and don't gain much independence ?

I was early 20s when I moved out, living at home was cheap and easy so it took a while to leave. As soon as I had my own space I wished I'd done it sooner.

My parents actually cared about me.

I was 25 when I moved out and it took having a bairn to actually go. Otherwise there wasnt any need, £100 per month board, plenty of spare cash and we always had the house to ourselves anyway.

Did your bird live there as well?

It happens mate. I'm 24 and was gone for 4 years but had to come back. Will leave again when I have enough savings stored and its financially viable, and not a case of acting in haste and being totally fucked when a washing machine breaks or whatever!

But Nah man parents have always been good to me payed my first house deposit and always helped all their kids if they were ever short of rent in early years
Not everyone has parents who can/will pay their first house deposit!

I'm sure it was money well spent in your case...
