PISTON

Striker
Even though i've no idea if this lads any good or a complete knacker i feel a bit of sympathy for his plight. His progress so far has been a tad slow but much of this season's annual shambles isn't down to him so i think he's probably swimming around in circles at the moment.
The reason i feel sorry for him is he's now got himself into a situation where he'll have to go the way of many others and pay over the top or face the consequences. The Borini situation is one where the player unfairly and undeservedly holds all the cards. Even though he's done well i don't think Borini merits so much power in these negotiations, it's all a bit one sided.
Either way, Congerton's head must be spinning. He has very little say or direct control in what's happening, almost at the hands of fate.
He isn't the man who got us into this mess but is he the man to get us out of it?? Has he got enough standing in the game to dig us out of this self-inflicted hole?? I hope so but i'm not convinced, this would be a big job for anyone.

we just need to sign a bunch of punt-on foreigners and a few bosmans and be done...

quick work and back to treading water over the drain...

Whatever your motivation for these threads, whether it's a wind up or you are being serious, you need to have a f***ing word with yourself.

It's neither negative or positive. Merely acknowledging that this poor f**ker's head must be buckled. He's in a very high pressure situation but doesn't have much power about solving it because players/agents etc hold virtually all the cards.
Whichever solution he comes up with will be blocked or delayed for some outside reason or another. The only real way of getting around it is throwing money at the problem. It isn't necessarily his fault but he needs to do something.
Do you have an opinion yourself or do you only comment on others??

Are you for real. He knew what he was getting into. We are weeks into pre season and he hadn't got a transfer over the line. Borini we have bid 14 million which I think most think is over the odds for him. It's not as if Congerton had been working on this deal all summer and got us a great price. He could have offered that opening day of the transfer window and it would have been accepted.

Why are you sorry for him? It's not like he's unfamiliar with such a role. He has worked with scouting networks, has many contacts throughout football and not only can he not drum up some decent transfer deals, he can't even sign the fuckers who were here when he joined. He has offered nothing so far
