You're support is effing shit

The singing section is nothing of the sort really. It's basically a couple of hundred up at the back trying to get things going but it always just fizzles out as there's not enough willing participants around them. Worst thing they ever done was shifting the away fans to create that as it's absolutely shite. The SWC was much smaller in area but you probably had around 75% of the occupants in there prepared to sing and shout back in its heyday.
Exactly this, the swc had a huge majority of people who sang, then the remaining south stand and sec would join in sometimes. Now it’s lost across the east west and north stand who do nothing. The atmosphere is created between a vocal home part of the crowd and the away fans. The excuse of moving them so it looks better in tv is terrible, I don’t care what it looks like, in all honesty it looks terrible on weekday night with the amount of empty seats. The atmosphere as the old saying goes can be the twelfth man, and now all we have is a half hearted attempt at wise men say, and lots of moans and groans. We need to push these lads over the line

The atmosphere at the sol has got worse since they moved the away fans and created the daft “singing end”. There’s always an excuse, the team need to give us something to cheer about, the team need to perform, blah, blah, blah. The only way the atmosphere is going to improve is put the away fans back to the south stand. We turn up in numbers at home, but a lot of the fans obsess over this. I’d rather have 10k there and the atmosphere be decent compared to any of the crowds over the last few years, it’s honestly embarrassing and would say on atmosphere wise we are the worst home fans in the championship
The "singing end" has been an abject failure. No doubt about that. No idea what can be done though as it's a common problem across the country. Watch any English club match on the TV and there's a 95% chance the atmosphere will be poor.

Move the away fans back to the south stand for starters

Atmosphere comes from the club and the team and at the minute we are not playing great and even when we win under RLB the football isnt great

Last time atmosphere was good was when TM was here and we were playing good attacking football win lose or draw
It's been shit for years.
It was dreadful under tony mowbray also mate.
Just as it was at the start of the season when we were playing great football and top of the league.
It's still pretty good tbh - probably one of the most exciting teams in the league - don't take their chances so gets nervy in the last 10.
The mass exodus happened under mowbray also, whether winning drawing or losing.

Yeah but the footy was class at times

Players new they could express themselves

Rigg was a class impact player
Rose tinted glasses
It was class as unexpected.
The footy is still just as good. We are an exciting team to watch.
Top of the league after 4 home wins v sheff wed, Burnley , Boro and derby , all good victories and deserved, atmosphere was largely shit with fans deserting us in droves before the game finished, as you could see from our fifth game where we played well against Leeds, the best team in the league , and we scored a last minute equaliser, with most of the stadium on their way home

The fact fans actually make excuses for our apathy and lack of atmosphere needs to stop.
It doesn't matter if we are playing well and creating loads of chances
It doesn't matter if we are winning , losing or drawing - we have a huge amount of our fans who just don't care enough , don't want to sing and just want to get home before the traffic.

We are fourth in the league.
Should we only have a good atmosphere if we are top or second and winning every week?
(Well it didn't happen anyway)

The club may have to take some blame as the lads who tried to do stuff with flags got a bit shat upon , and the removal of away fans from the sw corner has been awful , but why haven't home fans moved up to the premier concourse to be next to them?
Listen, we’ve had a good season, of course we have, and I’m not having a go at the team in general
But the fact is when we play football on the front foot the crowd gets behind the team and there’s s as n atmosphere, which is what the thread is about.
The evidence doesn't back this up

In almost every home game the away fans sing this. It's obviously not aimed at the amount of people in the stadium as we are the best in that respect as the numbers prove that.

It's obviously aimed at the complete lack of atmosphere and support for the team.

I've been a season ticket holder for decades and I must admit the last few seasons I've noticed a down turn in atmosphere

Having said that I don't think it's just a Sunderland problem I think it's noticeable at every other club when they play at home.

It's usually the away fans who make the most noise
Did you not hear Sunderland supporters at Eland Road taunting Leeds with "Shall we sing a sing for you?"?
I did and joined in. Atmosphere doesn't come in a box. It has to be generated. If you don't help generate it then you have no right to complain.

All of this but nobody can deny our football right now is shite

Your right singing doesnt happen anymore but that has lots to do with age groups and people wanting to be entertained

In my opinion right now our players do not try and express themselves or take a risk or do that trick that beats an opponent and that is what gets the crowd going

No idea about where supporters sit and why not you will have to ask them

You're spot on with everything here apart from the "the footy is just as good" line. Sadly it's not at the moment. It's regressed since the start of the season, in the same way the playing style regressed in Mowbray's second season.
