I'm taking the bairn down to Headingley on Saturday and was wondering where the best place is to park? Its a while since I've been down there and with the ground redevelopment I'm not sure what parking is now like around the ground.

Does the park and ride operate on a normal match day? This isnt clear:

Tough game for Durham.

From memory there is a muti (2 or 3 anyway) storey car park in Headingley itself. I'd just park up there, little stroll down to the ground

Lived there for three years but don't remember this. The only one I can think of is the one behind the supermarket on the main street where the Ripper got one of his victims :-(

One of my old customers were there (White Young Green), you had to go up a ramp off the main road, so it might be the same place

If Stoneman is injured, who will open?

Borthwick? Coetzer? or even this young lad Coyne?

Good question.

Borthwick - the experiment of opening with him has mixed success so far. Also I'm not sure that Borthwick will play unless we have a deliberate policy of going with two spinners this year. I think the club are keen to push him on though this year.

Coetzer - an obvious choice but I dont think he's been in great form recently. His career appears to be wandering to nowhere in particular.

Coyne - do you chuck him in at the deep end against Yorkshire?

The squad is announced tomorrow so we might get a better idea at that time. I'll go with Coetzer.

I wondered about the opener situation too.

Shouldn't have got rid of Karl Turner!

Is Will Smith not an option? I do hope Durham persist with 2 spinners all year, both in truth are all-rounders anyway so if not needed to bowl they can still hold a bat. Over the last 5 or 6 years we've done well with all-rounders. At Hampshire for example we had 4 players (Stokes, Benk, Borthwick, Blackie) who I'd consider able to bowl and bat. If Collingwood returns he's another, as is Ben Harmison.

Anyway, looking forward to keeping up with this one, hope to be off on Friday so I can listen to the full days play, unfortunately I'll not be able to get down to watch which is a shame with it being so near..... Pity Yorkshite don't play at Middlesbrough anymore!!

Me anarl.

Although I think it's fairly obvious him and Smith wont play much this season and both must be out of contract in the winter.

I'd also play Claydon over Borthwick and Rushworth over Harmison (injured).

Smith, Coetzer, Breese, B.Harmison, Rushworth & Braithwaite all playing for Durham seconds today and tomorrow.

So it's between Borthwick & Coyne imo.

i thought costa was still out wasnt he, is he fit to return?

wouldnt be surprised to see scotty continue opening, smudge in and claydon for harmy

I thought it was Tuesday/Wednesday the 2nds were playing against Yorkshite? At Leeds too? So anyone who does play there will be handy for the 1sts on Thursday......?!

I'm sure a 1st team CC game would take priority over a 2nd team friendly though so if Durham need a Smith or a Costa they can replace him with A.N.Other.
