I’m 42. Think my uncle took me to my first game at Roker when I was about 7 ish. Got beat by Leicester 1-0 from memory, but never been certain. It was a nighttime match. If anyone could tell me what they approximate the year/season I’d appreciate it, as I’ve never been able to determine if and would love to read an old match report or something. Think the atmosphere and singing is what hooked me, as I can’t remember the football being great![]()
Thank you pal, are you kids fully involved in following Swindon or not
48 years for meAbout 47 years. First away game in 1981.
This is what it’s about 100% ye lad ye mate ye team. Both are.
Youngest given up for now. Eldest loves it, back from Uni now thus will start going regularly again.
Both have done over 50 different grounds.
My Eldest completed one full season every home and away with me.
Near on 7,400 miles.
We live 60 miles from Swindon thus every home game is a 120 mile round trip.
Best Mate from school still sits next to me at home games, meet up with a few at away games that moved away. Brother only goes to the home games.
Still aim to get up to the SOL.
Must have been to Hartlepool 6 or 7 times now️

My first season ticket was 92/93, main stand seats, Roker wing & I’ve sat in u19 since the stadium opened. This will be season 49 incoming iirc. Used to just pay on the gate at RP every game until getting a season ticket 92/93, and had one ever since. Last 4 years were in the Roker Wing of the main stand seats, was great in there. Sit in the West Stand of the SOL.
Aye. I’ve always hated this narrative that football is all we’ve got. The Mags get it too. Lazy storylines in documentaries. However, it’s a major part of who I am, experiences I’ve had, friends I’ve made & creates a structure in my life I can’t imagine being without.Started going when I was 6 and have had a season ticket ever since, simply couldn’t imagine a life without me having one and going every week/fortnight tbh. It’s a major part of my life and identity.
