Xhaka not happy with the early leavers

There will always be a few who leave early regardless of the score. But i do think depending on what the players are giving on the pitch does affect the numbers who give up earlier. On saturday the performance felt so flat that far more people around me were done before 90 mins, heard many of we were never scoring no matter how long the game would go on.
Where as earlier in the season if we were losing there was something about the players efforts on the pitch that made most fans think we could still get something, look at Arsenal in particular, 2-1 down but fans were well behind the effort being shown on the pitch and we equalised.

There does seem to be some fatigue hitting the players as we approach the close of the season, hopefully the derby is a game that can spur their efforts up again.

Aye one of the dudes who sits near us left early with his sons, soon as he realised the TVs werent on they tried watch it over the barrier at the tunnel entrance but the stewards weren't having it as they were blocking the view of those still sitting so they went off in a huff.

I agree maybe a good idea is leaving the gates closed until the 90th minute. In theory even if you are on a top tier seat it only takes 10 for the steps to clear. Is being delayed 10 minutes really worth that much to some?

It’s not a 10 minute delay though. Leaving on 85 as opposed to full time, can save you up to an hour, depending on where you live.

Again, I stay til the end of the match every week but I can see why people do it.

I do feel the club is gonna have to some how address it

They need to tell the stewards to do their jobs. The stairs are always blocked and they should be keeping people moving. Some people get up and leave to avoid standing their for ages afterwards when everyone has left.

They've often removed the goalposts and players back out for a cool down and we're still standing there.

If the early leavers are such an issue, maybe the club could ban supporters who live outside Sunderland.

Then we can all sing the praises of the remaining 15-20k who stay till the end.

We have always left our seats 2 minutes before the end of extra time and slowly walked down the south stand , along the concourse to the tunnel where we stand in the middle so not to obstruct peoples view behind. Then on final whistle will applaud and clap then make our way to the car. If we didn't then as you say it can add significant time to your journey. Those who stay in seats fair play, those who leave early fair play.
Lifes too short to get annoyed at things such as this.

Does that 1 minute or so saved really cause that much of a delay?

An alternative could be shifting the early leavers upto the Premier concourse, and giving there seats to those uptop who want to come down and take the seats.

Just a thought.

This is also a big problem that I've posted about before. People leaving their seats with no intention of actually leaving the ground. The stairs are full and don't move from about 88 minutes onwards next to us.

This is my issue and probably what I didn't make clear in an earlier post

If everyone is piling down the steps at 85 onwards, you then get stuck regardless and restrict the views of those still sitting

Its selfish really isn't it

Players come and go including Xhaka.
The performance on the pitch dictates highly on people leaving early or not as we have seen this season.
Some people will always leave early but if people believe we have a chance they will stay.
This topic will never disappear

Yes. We are near the back of the stand so if we waited till end then it can take a good 15-20 minutes to get down the stand and out the ground. The walk back to the car is busy and getting back onto the A19 from Wessington way is a nightmare. Why would I want to waste upto an extra hour stuck in traffic ?

TILL THE END

Play better and the fans stay.
Not too sure it’s his place to have a go at the fans. He should, as captain, be having a go at the players at practice this morning.

I'll take your word for it. Could nip into a pub or cafe for a drink and wait until the traffic dies down? Make a day of it

Makes you wonder why that extra 30 minutes getting home is so important to people.... especially when it's a Saturday at 5.30pm when most people's diary are free at that time of day and there is no work to goto next day....what actually are people doing between 5.30 and 6.30 if they are home...I suggest not a lot
I always think this too.

Long time ago, I used to drive 50-60k miles per year as a regional manager so spent loads of time in traffic- never had a problem with it- comfy seat, air conditioning, radio/music, chatting on the phone etc.

People furious they can’t get home quicker in order to sit doing nowt at home.

Exactly.
Players are paid handsomely to play regardless of crowds, locations or pitches.
If they are noticing fans leaving early t hen clearly they are not focusing on the game.
