Xabi Alonso/Bayer Leverkusen



Liverpool, a working class city who love their football. Similar to Sunderland
Liverpool had Bill Shankley, who changed the club onto an upwards course, then a very good manager from Hetton-le-Hole, as they say the rest is history. It's likely Alonso could be Liverpool's manager and be good for them.


I have often wondered if Brian Clough had become our manager (it was I understand a strong possibility, at one point), whether he could have been our Shankley and put our club onto another trajectory, than the one that happened.

Managers can do that for a club.
