Would you want Cattermole to be successful for England?

Didn't realise those two pictures are the same person? (although the one on the left is about 3x the mass of the ones on the right combined)

Canny feather in his cap and increases his value for the club. But on the downside, what's in it for us supporters?
  • Risk of injury
  • Bids we cant refuse from a big club
  • Cattermole cant handle the pressure and loses form (happens to a lot of players who get capped)
  • Pay rise demands

It's a no for me.

No. Nothing good comes from international call-ups.
International breaks should be banned.

International teams should be run like a "Masters" type tournament for players retired from the professional game.

Cattermole will increase in value if other clubs come in for him, an actually decent footballer from the area will be called up for the first time in a while, SAFC becomes more attractive to players we are trying to get in.

You lot are really funny at times. On the back of a park the bus performance where you show little ambition to leave your box never mind your half you think he should be considered for England. Tiote has more chance of a call up from Woy.

1. Anyone that uses the term "park the bus" is a tit.
2. We showed sufficient ambition to create better chances than our opposition.
3. He's played well all year. Which is why he's NE player of the year. Maybe watch more football instead of just MotD highlights.

Nothing good comes for the clubs, but it's what the players dream of from being kids. I'd love that to happen for cattermole, even if there are some negative consequences for us. He has worked so hard, he deserves everything he gets

I still think he just lacks that bit of quality at the top level.......the odd lapse of concentration and the odd loose pass can be very expensive at International level. I'd like to see him get a cap as recognition for his efforts but I'm not convinced he'll get one.

your right - playing against slovenia, san marino, estonia and scotland his is likely to be punished in a way chelsea, man city and man united could not !

I would, however it would be nice to keep him for ourselves. If the opportunity came along it would be brilliant for the lad

He can live out his dreams later, as part of an International Masters World Cup for retired players over 35 years old.
International football for professionals should be stopped. It brings no benefits to the clubs, especially teams like Sunderland.

I just don't understand this logic. The whole point of international competitions is to have the best players in the world representing their countries when they are at the high point of their careers. International football is loved by millions of people around the world. Even people who aren't heavily invested in football enjoy the spectacle, and people who play professionally dream of it often far more than they dream of playing for clubs.
Are you honestly saying this should be sacrificed because there is a slim chance players can get injured and so may miss out on games for their respective domestic league competitions?
Absolute lunacy in my opinion.

Let's be quite honest, 75% of international football is a complete waste of time, with teams that simply shouldn't be allowed to play on the same pitch as major nations. The risk to proper sportsmen from some of these foreign donkeys is a completely pointless exercise.
Even for keen international fans there's only a handful of teams worth watching but i just don't like it at all. I would rather watch a championship game, and they're bad enough.

I have next to no interest in international football. In my opinion it spoils the football season. The media and TV companies try to generate excitement and hype but many people i know just couldn't give a f**k about it.

What an incredibly sad post.

Talking a lot of shit there marra. Soaked up their pressure well and had far more clear chances than them to win it. Your lot would never shut up about a performance like that. And Cattermole has been sown a lot of good qualities for a long time

Oxygen thief

I hope he gets called up, he'll get a cap. That's right isn't it @PISTON

Only ginger's get a hat. The FA stick it in the post a week before the match.

You're using this injury card like the f**king joker on "It's a Knockout". I wasn't even sure he was injured for the second game of the two. One commentator said he was traveling out there.
