Would this team beat the Mags?

As other have suggested here it doesn't matter if you can win a derby or not because if you lose Sunderland fans will claim it is not a level playing field so the result does not count/does not matter, and in doing so have convinced themselves that it is a no-lose scenario for Sunderland. Of course should you scrape together a win it will claimed it as the biggest underdog victory since David vs Goliath.

The more interesting question (and the one I eagerly await seeing answered) is how will you do against all the other Premier League teams?

I have been reliably informed on this forum that this season the PL is terrible and NUFC are only 3rd because of a combination of luck and everyone else being crap. Of course this is not true, the only team that is really significantly underachieving is Chelsea. Citeh continue to be Citeh, Arsenal and Man U are both having their best season in years. Liverpool started badly but look strong again now, Spurs are as consistently inconsistent as ever. And now there is NUFC, Brighton and Villa who can compete with these teams. So the fact is the PL is in fact more competitive then ever before.

I am pretty sure that if Sunderland get promoted this season the standard of the PL will have miraculously improved over the summer and next season no one will be saying the PL is crap because it become impossible to make that argument when you are getting hammered by Brentford (yet another good team)

The reality is you are not just far behind Newcastle, you are far behind all the teams in the PL and need at least about 8 players to have any hope of staying in the PL. The choice that the club will be faced with will be either doing what Forest did and bringing in lots of players in a gamble to stay in the PL, or playing safe thereby virtually ensuring relegation.

Imagine taking the time to write all that on a rival's forum!
Absolutely terrified that we might, just might be on the verge of being able to compete with you again. Rattled and biting like fuck!

Don't forget to spill gravy all owa yasel on the way oot, cya.

Good luck on your formidable campaign as Bonesaw United to really stick it to the big boys in the premier league. You've really worked for it just like Brighton have...

The derby will never be the same and is forever lost. As far as I am concerned NUFC as a club died when the Saudis took over, where your club is just a project for sports washing.

Whilst SAFC will look to develop young up and coming talent through the academy, NUFC will just pay over the odds for ready made talent. It will all be fake success bought with blood money.

What a wonderful selection of cogent, well reasoned responses.

You mean like when you played us at the SOL in the pizza cup? Win and rub it in or lose as you did and it was your reserves

09 and Hume have never played PL football. Could be way out their depth for all we know
Yea appreciate that. But I’m talking a one off game against the scum. Expected pelters but had a long think about what my derby 11 would be (from my time following the lads, early 90s)) And I stand by it.

Also I’m very confident Hume is gunna do well in the prem, hopefully with us. I predict 09 will adapt too.

A new rivalry forged with boro at wembley

No it wouldn't. Even entertaining the suggestion is laughable.

But then again it is football. if both teams play each other ten times you'd like to think this Sunderland team wouldn't lose on one or two occasions.
