I'm not looking forward to it but in fairness there might be a few shocks
 
Wasn't the original idea 48 teams but 16 groups of 3. I think top 2 to qualify so still only getting ride of 16 teams after the group stages but far less matches and non of this best third place teams lark.
But then the last Euro's group stages were so exciting (24 teams in 6 groups of 4) that they changed it groups of 4 again. I don't recall if they were exciting or not. But I think I'd have preferred less group games if there has to be more countries.

Could easily have retained the 8 groups of 4 but had the 4th group spot decided by a one off play off at the start of the competition. i.e. 24 teams qualify for the groups then 16 teams play a knockout match to get into the groups. just like Tuesdays play offs but have them in the summer.
Or if they want more countries maybe look at doing something like the Champions League groups stages. Although I doubt they'd have all the last group games on at the same time.

Must admit I'm not at all excited by this one. Think it's a combination of stuff.

Being spread across three countries/match times
Trump/general americanisation of it (half time show for the final ffs)
Tuchel (ego driven selections)
It'll be too hot for high tempo football

Hopefully there'll be bitesize match highlights available each morning so I'll probably consume it that way until the quarter finals. Presumably they'll be on at a decent time?
 
Love the world cup, chart up on the wall, 2-3 matches a day...What's not to like?

Not at all confident about Englands chances, I think we will really struggle to make the quarters.

Mexico is already a mess. People smashing up statues in Mexico City today and causing chaos with traffic.
The traffic is already horrendous and the infrastructure is already terrible. It’ll be chaos getting to the games like.

I’m going to watch the opening match in the zocalo where the actual Mexican fans will be. Apparently 90k going 😳
They’ve just serenaded the South African national teams arrival with the song El son de la negra. They really are f***ing ignorant
