It’s official! Afghanistan, apparently done and dusted by the fourth round in the group stages, have risen from the dead and made it to the World Cup.

If we move focus away from the ridiculous decision to have a 10-team 50 over World Cup, those outside of the 12 test playing nations need more money to keep progressing. The ones who show promise and/or have a long history need enough to sustain a professional squad of 16. I'm thinking of Scotland, Holland, Kenya, Namibia, Canada, Nepal, PNG, Hong Kong (and Denmark given their contribution to English county cricket over the years). £1 million a year should allow them to have a full programme, to put it into context, 6 weeks pay for a top IPL player.
 
Tournament final today.

Afghanistan bundled out WI for 204 and are now 25/0 in 5 overs. Looks like they will win it all!
