World Cup pitches

Ah, yes, the standard soft bigotry that assumes the Yanks are clueless (and sometimes we bring it on ourselves, to be fair). But ...

The pitch in Charlotte was done in a hurry for a friendly. The stadiums being used for the actual World Cup are getting weeks, even months, of preparation. Miami has grass, FIFA came in and still replaced it to their standard Seattle and Vancouver normally have artificial surfaces - Seattle started installing the grass in late March to get it properly grown. Vancouver started in the first week of May. And if you want to whinge about Vancouver, keep in mind it's in Canada.

There may be a good deal of issues with this World Cup. I'll be stunned if the playing surface is a major one. But, hey, why let the facts get in the way of a good rant. Carry on.

To be honest, your orange **** of a president is my biggest concern.

I think it’s a joke such a backward country gets the World Cup tbh. But it just aligns with the fifa vision I guess. Poor Canada and Mexico will be tarred with the orange brush.

Before you say it yes I know not all Americans voted him and his party in but by Christ you have all done fuck all to get him out or show any meaningful form of protest. And don’t give me the no kings nonsense.

Never a chance the WC should be anywhere near USA/Saudi/Qatar/Russia.

I watched the friendly last night in Charlotte, and while the majority of the match was fine, the way long balls lacked bounce was the weirdest thing. It was like the players had figured out how to to put mega back spin on the ball

They’ve basically laid turf on top of concrete in some stadiums.
Silly. Everyone knows you should screed it first!

World Cup should be nowhere near the backward rogue country the US has become. Get rid of the laughing stock of a regime running the country and things might be different.

🤣 🤣

The same type of pitch Tottenham use because of their roll on off pitch. They are investigating why they have had so many injuries this season and the pitch is number 1 suspect, so they are going to make changes to it.
It might be the same as their training ground but the stadium uses a very different set up or at least did when it was built and the money they spent on it I'd be amazed even by Spurs standards if they changed already. The stadium pitch is split into 3 massive parts that can be moved under the stand and have artificial lighting/watering and it cut by robots to the perfect length. Discovery or one of those channels done a documentary on it when it was first built as they spent so much on it, that pitch in america is constructed by widths of grass looking closer to ones at clays garden centre placed on top of a poor base.

The level of MAGA recism in the replies to the Senegal clip is off the scale. This is shaping up to be a disaster for FIFA.
Just wait till we either have ice doing raids or a terror incident. Then we have the tango man who will make it about him, as much as I love a World Cup and still excited this could be one of the worst off the field. Then we have the heat the pitch’s etc we ar either going to get games filled with goals or boring slow paced games where teams try and combat the elements as well as the pitches.

We hear the same issues before nearly every football tournament.

The pitches are no good, the weather is too hot, high chance of being robbed at gun point (South Africa).

Then once it starts it never seems that bad.

Strange if they will be playing on that surface in two weeks.. The Videos I've watched said it had just been relaid for the WC?
The videos showed the Hardrock Stadium being relaid at the Miami Dolphins. That game was in Carolina at the Carolina Panthers stadium. Same cour seats quite a few hundred miles apart
