Wolves, Brentford and Burnley

We just have to wait and see. RLB got off to a flyer last year after working with the players for just a few weeks.

He has had an even shorter time this year and I can’t see how the team spirit and togetherness can carry forward if we have changed the entire team. He is starting from scratch on that score.

Given our favourable fixtures you would think a good start is important but these new lads have to learn to play together.

Here's my assessment on the PL. You have 4 or 5 really good sides. Then the rest are all very similar. Every team pretty much has 3 or 4 star players. Lose of form / injuries / suspension can result in any team struggling.

I see us and the 3 other promoted teams giving it a real got at trying to bridge that gap and 2 of us stay up ( hopefully us ).

I think we will see a couple of susprise clubs relegated this season. My predication in Newcastle could be one of them.
There are loads of teams that could get dragged in. It’s only really Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and I’d argue Spurs, Mags and Villa that are completely safe.

Anyone like Brentford, Bournemouth and even potentially clubs that have done well in previous seasons like Brighton, Fulham and potentially even Forest that could drop like a stone.
Don't agree with this. They are in danger in my opinion. Outside their 3 or 4 very good players they aren't that special. They also have very weak squad depth

If this side can build some momentum very quickly, then they can have a god, solid season. If not, then it may become a massive struggle. You can have a bad day in the EFL but have a chance to put it right quickly. The gaps between games are longer in the PL. Also, w have a lot of new players in now. It may take a while for them to gel.

It will be hard but we know from the finishes against Coventry and Sheffield Utd that anything is possible.

I think a lot can be said for mentality and not letting our heads go down if there’s a run of bad results.

I would back us to get results in some of the games previous relegated teams lost.

The overhaul of players will bring a freshness and these players have serious pedigreee and were always going to end up as premier league players. We just got ahead of the pack.

I don’t think the Mags will be anywhere near the relegation spots. However, their Champions League games will likely hinder their league form. So I expect them to drop a few places from last year.

finishing any better than 18th however requires a huge step up - all the teams last season 17th plus had over 40 points
Getting over 40 points would be a massive achievement for a promoted side and basically shows the size of task

People are honestly underestimating how difficult next season is going to be.
Problem is we are moving in to a period of well run clubs. Most of the premier are on point now, even man utd look better. Actually nufc look badly ran so we could go above them. Their dressing room will be in tatters. They hate the ownership

Even with the money spent, we're still playing catch up to try and get on a level footing with teams just in the bottom half of the league. Then the team itself needs to gel, they've hardly played together yet, with many not playing PL football.

We've got a massive job on our hands to stay up. A good start with some points on the board from those first few games could really give us the confidence needed to give it a f#cking good go!

And those first few games are when the team hasn't had much chance to gel.
It will be great if they click early but that's a big job for RLB.

Zabarnyi leaving Bournemouth for PSG.
Definitely a good season for promoted teams

Bournemouth have sold £150 worth of defenders and I hadn't heard of any of them before. I must have been really out if touch with the PL.

Definitely a few clubs in transition this season, hopefully we can taje advantage.

Troy Deeney on TalkSport earlier predicted that we'd stay up and Wolves would go down along with Leeds and Burnley.

You might disregard his opinion generally, or think he's on some kind of Midlands wind-up, but nice to hear a pundit NOT writing us off before a ball has been kicked.
