Wolverhampton Wanderers v Sunderland AFC 3pm Match Thread

If the lads don't cut their hair from now they'll have longish hair by Christmas. Plenty enough to hoy some extensions in by August.

Yeah, but you know how football works. It's the Match of the Day issue of the moment. He was pulling the shirt and got some hair as well. Earlier in the season, not an issue. A week after the FA panel has made a ruling, VAR is looking for it.
And obviously the rule is enforced in a binary fashion for some illogical reason.

I remember going to a match at Molineux in the early ninetees when we had two men sent off inside the first seven minutes. We held out until eight minutes from the end only to concede a late goal to lose 1-0.

Hair pulling is definitely a red card offence. However, Ballard is holding him off and grabbing his shirt but his hair is long and goes down his back and gets caught in the shirt and hand grip. Ballrd doesn't pull it. It's just shit refereeing/VAR or the shittest rule they've introduced in awhile as you can just have long hair and win fouls all the time now.

I can't say I was surprised it was a red card tbh.

I probably would agree that they need to clamp down on shirt-pulling in general a bit more and just get players to stop doing that, and certainly getting away with it.

No common sense by the refs, Ballard looking at the ball at all times, trying to wrestle with the player and doesn’t realise he even has his hair, you don’t fall forward from a decent hair pull either
That would take applying context which the knobs we have reffing our league can’t seem to do.

Cruising and controlling the match at 0-1 and then THAT happens.

I'll be livid if we get nothing here after looking so comfortable. Big second half coming up.

And there should be enough sense when viewing that footage to see the difference between deliberate violent conduct and an awkward shirt grab. It's not like swinging an elbow.
