WMS WMS Meets Thomas Butler

MK much better to listen to when not trying to be humorous.

TB comes across well but he's badly wrong about the LFC recruiters: look at the quality of Liverpool recruitment at all levels.

It was odd the way he left, and I never did find out the real reason.
Decided he didn’t like being a footballer. So moved to the real world. Then realised being a footballer is a shit load better than working for a living. Was then naive/daft enough to think he could then go and play somewhere else without Sunderland’s permission.

Imagine Jack Grealish saying he wanted to stop playing and wrapping it in mid contract. Then deciding after a few months he missed playing and thinking he could just start again at Arsenal or Chelsea.
Hopefully nowadays the world these kids are entering into is explained to them and their parents better than it obviously was back then.

On a similar weird note: George McCartney reportedly wanted to jack it in prior to going to WHU. We somehow managed to get a ridiculously good fee for a player of his ability that’d admitted he was losing interest in the game. Then for some stupid reason we go and buy him back for a higher fee than we sold him for. The whammers in my then local couldn’t believe it. We’ve been ran by morons for decades.

Enjoyed that, bit of a break from the usual format, Stephen said they're going to do a few of these with ex players.

WMS Monday show has always been a good listen, though the preview episode has been better lately since they've mixed up the presenters a bit. Used to give it a miss most of the time when it was Matt trying too hard to not discuss the weekend game
