Buying a new laptop, and looks like they all come with this operating system now.

Is it any good? Can I get rid of all the crap and make it look like Windows 7?

You probably could install windows 7. You'd need a license to do it, and it would only last until January 2020 when windows 7 goes end of life and stops receiving critical secure updates the same way XP did. Just get used to windows 10 it's much better and getting better with either feature update.

HD is 1366 x 768, Full HD is 1920 x 1080. For a 15.6 screen 768 looks terrible, it has to be full HD.

Absolutely no question, nothing less than 900p on ANY screen. 786/720p is a no-no, loads of things just won't fit on the screen these days

I wouldn't consider anything that isn't 1080p

To get windows 7 start menu use startisback or classic shell.

Not if you download it from a dodgy site and use the Windows activation programs that come with it.

I've never "bought" Windows and never had a problem.

The last laptop I bought (from Argos) was riddled with lenovo manufacturer apps. I didn't like it at all.

Do a factory reset with most laptops when I get them these days. Best way to get rid of anything unnecessary and just have windows on its own.
