Will the Europa League be the new AFCON?

As the reason for everyone else (especially the Saudi's) to say we will get relegated?

To be fair, maybe they were all correct all along about the AFCON f***ing our season. Had it not been for that we might have made the Champions League....
AFCON's impact was over-rated. We went 1-3-1 during AFCON, including a draw against ManC. Runs like that happened throughout the season (i.e, from Weeks 30-34 we also got six points from five games).

During AFCON, the Mags were 3rd in the form table with 10pts. Didn't really capitalize :)

Fear is only your enemy if you let it get the best of you! Same as when we got promoted, new levels new territory and winnable! Not by strength but by guile🫡

The scary thing is that we weren't actually that far off champions league. If diarra scores against villa then it's possibly 3 points instead of 0. Ballard's dodgy sending off at Wolves...
You can do that the other way though. Two inexplicable own goals win us 4pts against Chelsea and The Visitors. Brentford for some baffling reason giving a penalty to Kevin Schade and not Igor Thiago. Ballard’s crazy block at home to Arsenal. Crystal Palace selling Guehi a day before a game.

There's every chance Europa League results in us struggling in the league next season. People need to stay calm, keep their shit together and back the lads. Playing Thursday and Sunday at such a high level is hard, especially if our squad is not quite there yet. It's a new experience and we need to give the coach and players time to figure it out. That might even be a bad season and a relegation fight. It's part of the journey.

We've just matched our highest finish since the mid-1950s, so there's a decent chance of a lower finish next season anyway. A deep run in Europe and survival I would consider a success next season.

Ye gods
Are you having a laugh
AFCON had virtually zero effect on our season points wise
The only time we looked f£&ked was when Xhaka was out, as far as so know he isn’t African

Afcon wasn't the disaster that people predicted at the time, but it was the aftermath that derailed us a bit. Xhaka's absence, players coming back from Afcon injured or tired out, and the squad who were here during the competition being out on their feet due to lack of bench-strength during those games.

But we recovered well eventually.

5 points difference only close but not quite…Isador needs to score at Anfield but that’s really cutting hairs. In all honesty the table doesn’t lie we should all be grateful with an amazing last two years supporting the club.

A lot of our squad have played in Europe, they are used to it. The ones that haven’t played for us in the championship where you play two games a week for most of the season. It was only 1 year ago sone players and the manager had a successful 49 league game season.

The club isn’t used to European football, the players are and can handle extra games.

Yes that’s all well and good, but according to the justice league we were bottom.
