Will Smeed

Mentioned Banton on the Somerset thread, and reminded me of this lad

Quit red ball cricket at 21 to just play white ball

2 matches since September (in Abu Dhabi), and before that not much at all

What a waste

I remember being really excited when I first seen him bat. Such a shame. I really don’t understand why you’d basically sack off the longest form of the game. IIRC his reasoning was that his red ball average was significantly worse than his white ball average, but if that’s the case then maybe work on your red ball game rather than jacking it in, especially at such a formative age.

Because he's shite.

Struggled at 2nd XI level, nevermind first class, so why not try to rebrand yourself as a 'hitter' before you're released.

He’s never played a first class game. As far as I can see he’s only played a single list A game.

So T20s only

Finally makes his first class debut. As a sub
Called up as injury replacement to open the batting instead of Kohler-Cadmore.

Even though he was not in the squad as was too busy scoring a 150 and 200 opening for the seconds so couldn't arrive in time to open the batting. All whilst Archie Vaughan who opened lots last season and was in the squad.

Arrives later in the day bats 8(vaughan ended up batting there or 7 last season) for his FC debut scores 38 whilst behind Overton who scores a daddy ton.

Goldsworthy gets injured today Archie Vaughan comes in as the replacement for him but cant bowl. Proceeds to open the batting second innings and scores 41 off 25 to win the game.

Make it make sense

Mad how many injury replacements their has been in two rounds myst be double figures at least.
