Will a wealthy mega billionaire ever put a bid into buying Sunderland?


Our club is just fine as it is IMO. I’d rather we have owners like we have that are prepared to support the club when it needs it but on a sustainable footing. I for one would rather my club keep well clear of the hollow victories that we are witnessing up the road, or have witnessed for decades in the PL. That way any success that we do have has a real value to it, as a fan and as a club.
Other than Leicester and maybe Man United (early prem years) and arsenal almost every title has been bought!
I for one would feel no achievement in that!

There's also a buyer at a price point though
There's only so many Man citys etc ,then you can get a club at the right price to do what you want .Its return will be relative to your investment

Folk who just want a wich awab man can fukk right off for me, I’d rather feel part of something than jump on the next gravy train.

I feel like we have started something that could get bigger and better. and not like the parable of the house that’s built on sand.

This. It applies to players and managers as well, which is why Newcastle will never reach the very top even with all that money available.

Ten/twenty years ago, when the likes of Man City and Chelsea were trying to muscle in, they had much more money than the "established" clubs. They paid more - a lot more. Now, all of the biggest established clubs have their own billionaire owners, and the TV money has gone through the roof. The top players and managers are spoilt for choice as to where they go, and the money is pretty much the same everywhere. They simply don't want to live in the North East, and the very best won't come here. It was ever thus.

Plus - the tide is turning on the political attitude towards Saudi Arabia. New petrol cars are banned from 2030. All Western countries are weaning themselves off oil. As that happens, the economic reliance on the Saudis (and the Saudis source of wealth) declines quickly, and foreign policy will start to focus much more on condemning their human rights record than sucking up to them for a reliable oil source. You can already see a lot of anti-Saudi sentiment coming to the forefront in US politics. Europe always rows in behind.

the reason newcaslte was chosen, apart from being in the premier legue..was the property development opportunities in the newcastle area which make the whole venture profitable for the owners..does sunderland have similar property potential?
